An old video from March 2023 has resurfaced on social media, showing a Dallas man, Ramiro Zuniga, abandoning his German Shepherd. While the police arrested the man after the incident, netizens were heartbroken to see Zuniga stopping his car at the side of a quiet road and opening his trunk to abandon the German Shepherd.
The short clip shows the man opening the trunk, and after the dog gets out, he starts moving around the vehicle. Ramiro Zuniga then enters the car, leaving the dog behind. The dog barks and chases the car as the owner drives off in his white SUV.
The short 39-second clip shows the dog chasing the vehicle. However, as he couldn’t keep up with the car's speed, the German Shepherd stopped midway and looked around helplessly.
The incident took place in March 2023. However, the video has resurfaced and made netizens teary once again. After the man was arrested, the police revealed that 41-year-old Ramiro Zuniga is an illegal immigrant and has a few police records present in his name.
The police department also gave an update on the condition of the dog and said:
“Animal control responded and recovered the dog in good condition. Zuniga was identified as the suspect and that a search warrant was executed at his residence. On March 11, 2023, the Dallas Police Department’s Southeast CRT team executed a search warrant on Zuniga’s home, locating the vehicle used in the crime, and Zuniga was taken into custody.”

As per the police department, Ramiro Zuniga entered the country illegally in 2004 and has been in the country ever since. Furthermore, his bond was set at $4,000 when he was arrested. It is not clear if the man is still in jail or has been released.
