The most recent TikTok term to confound and confuse social media users is "Septum Arms." The term gained popularity on the site after being included in several videos that didn't give the proper definition, leaving viewers confused.

"Septum Arms" is a slang that refers to a person's arms. Although the meaning of the term has been widely conjectured, with some suggesting that it means "chubby arms," the term is random and without a verified explanation.

The phrase originated from a user's criticism of those who make fun of women's arms in a TikTok video by @orlandospeciality. The user also mentioned septum piercings in the remark, which prompted TikTok AI to suggest "Septum Arms" as the suggested search word beneath the video.

The latest TikTok trend, "Septum Arms," sprang from a misinterpretation in a recent video ridiculing septum piercings and men who make fun of women's arms. Although the term has no real meaning, users have taken it upon themselves to give it a definition.

The phrase originated from a video uploaded by TikToker @orlandospeciality in which the user was calling out people who made offensive remarks about a woman's arms. It appears septums and arms were discussed simultaneously in the video's comments section, and the site AI ended up combining the two concepts.

In three days, over 12 million people viewed the video, which he posted on July 15, 2024. TikToker @daryldixonisaw's comment under @orlandospeciality's video on July 16, asking what if someone had septum piercing, earned nearly 27,000 likes.

Due to this, TikTok AI began to suggest the relevant search phrase Septum Arms as a blue remark, and it soon went viral. Many people then questioned the term's definition and the reason it was suggested to them.

Following this, in July 2024, videos on the app trying to interpret the term's meaning became popular. Several people used the term and created their own videos using Septum Arms.

In the following days, some people concluded that the name meant "chubby arms," while others knew it was a joke. The term was later used in a video that TikToker @kirkiimad released on July 17, and it received over 3.5 million views in a single day.

The same day, @nuumuhuupi, a TikToker, uploaded a video on the platform wondering what the term meant, and it quickly amassed over 700,000 views.

On July 17, sources like DailyDot released an article that attempted to define Septum Arms but ultimately concluded that the word has no meaning, supporting their theory with comments.

By definition, a septum is a wall that divides soft tissues in anatomy. The nasal septum, for instance, is the thin wall that divides your left and right nostrils. The "septum intermusculare laterale brachii" is the name given to the band of fascia, or the strong connective tissue walls, that divide the arm into different portions.

However, this is not the popular definition. There are many conflicting views on social media and no definitive definition. Sources like Daily Dot stated that, according to some, it alludes to septum piercings in the nose.

Some claim that it is related to conversations about self-harm. Those who asserted that the term's etymology is more nuanced nonetheless claimed that it has something to do with scars left by self-harm on people's arms.

The same source said that some creators suggested it can also mean the arms are chubby or thick. Others proposed that this indicated the individual's arms measure greater above the elbow than below. Some claim it's the squish that originates from the arm while lying down.

As of now, no one knows the exact meaning of "Septum Arms." It seems to be one of the many constantly trending terms on social media.
