MSNBC hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough recently met with President-elect Donald Trump on November 15, 2024. The meetup sparked debates on social media, including the hosts being scrutinized since they had been firm critics of the Republican candidate.

Meanwhile, Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and defended Brzezinski for meeting Trump. In the tweet, dated November 22, 2024, Jen wrote:

"Here is what I know from knowing @morningmika for a long time. She is a real advocate for other people including out of the spotlight, she never holds back including with people she disagrees (including Trump). She always wants to know more and she doesn’t expect everyone to agree..."

In the end, she wrote that people should listen more effectively than throwing "venom." This tweet, too, garnered massive attention on the internet. Here are some popular responses found on X regarding the matter. A user (@SteveNorrisTV) wrote:

"You're playing 'clean-up' for her, but there IS NO clean-up. (they did what they did.)"

Another one wrote on X:

"They insulted their audience, an important point which they, you and other media types seem to have completely overlooked."
"You made your audience stupid, you’ve made your bed and now you gotta lay in it," added a tweet.
"No Thank you! And you know what? It’s getting tiring seeing other journalists cover for each other by gaslighting everyone," wrote another netizen.

Others stated that they believed that Psaki was only trying to "whitewash" the actions done by Mika lately. A user tweeted:

"I think you trying to white wash the intentions is ridiculous."
"Strongly disagree with your attempt to sanewash what happened," commented a netizen.
"On most things I agree with you. On this, nope," explained another user.

Mika Brzezinski defended their conversation with Donald Trump by claiming that she believed that diplomacy was important

The meetup with the President-elect at Mara-Lago seemingly backfired on the MSNBC hosts, who have been facing widespread criticism on the internet since the news broke. As per reports by Gizmodo, the official X handle of Morning Joe disabled replies and stopped posting there, seemingly to neutralize the situation.

Meanwhile, CNN published a report on November 19 giving insights on the meeting. According to the reports, Scarborough and Brzezinski met with the President-elect since they feared they might be allegedly subjected to legal harassment once Trump became the President.

The two MSNBC hosts didn't just get criticism from the netizens for their choice. Lawyer and MSNBC host Katie Phang also condemned them and tweeted:

"Normalizing Trump is a bad idea. Period."

Trump ally and former White House adviser Steve Bannon predicted that Matt Gaetz's Justice Department could allegedly take legal action against several MSNBC employees. No response has been received from the media outlet on the matter.

The New York Post reported that not just the liberals but even conservatives have labeled Brzezinski and Scarborough as "hypocrites." As per the latest Nielsen figures, Morning Joe's ratings have decreased since the hosts met the President-elect.
