Chris Rock is trending after he reportedly stormed out of his comedy set at a Christmas party organized by billionaire Anthony Pratt. According to the New York Post, the party was held on the night of December 7, 2024.
Chris Rock's performance was reported to be a surprise at the party and he was heard joking:
"Our new push will be outer space. We'll put all the Mexicans on the rockets."
Cindy Adams, the gossip columnist for the New York Post, claimed that the comedian went to the party for a short period. During his performance, Rock witnessed something that did not sit right with him and reportedly shouted that he did not want to be recorded on video.
Chris Rock allegedly rushed toward the exit without revealing what exactly happened and did not return to the stage. Things went back to normal since Keith Urban, who also attended the party, continued performing on stage for almost an hour and a half.
Notably, Chris has not addressed the incident anywhere from his side and an official statement on the same is currently awaited. Meanwhile, netizens took to the comments section of The Neighborhood Talk's Instagram to react to the report. One of them even referred to the 2022 incident at the Oscars where Chris was slapped by Will Smith and wrote:
"You would've thought Will was in the audience."
A few users were spotted claiming that Chris has never been so funny, with a person saying that he considered himself "one of the good ones." Similar responses continued, with users addressing his jokes, and one of them claiming that they are always racial or against people of color.
Chris Rock's brother shares his response to the alleged incident
While the report of Chris Rock reportedly leaving Anthony Pratt's birthday party attracted attention on social media, the Grown Ups 2 star's brother, Tony, addressed the same while speaking to TMZ on December 9, 2024, at the Los Angeles International Airport.
Tony supported his brother by saying that no one should be allowed to record a comedian's set since they continuously work on the material. He further stated:
"If you record it and put it up before the joke is perfected, it's like a chef giving you a plate of food before it's finished. It's like buying a car before they're done making it. You should wait for the finished product."
As mentioned, further updates on the entire incident are currently awaited. Also known as Christopher Julius Rock, he narrated the Comedy Central animated sitcom, Everybody Still Hates Chris, which premiered in September this year.
While he has not announced any new project for now, Chris Rock portrayed Roy Wilkins in the biographical drama film, Rustin, which was released through Netflix in November 2023. Furthermore, he also voiced Cat Rubble in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. The animated film was successful at the box office and a third installment is already being planned.
