More about upcoming Nike Air Max 97 "Wolf Grey" sneakers
The Nike Air Max 97 sneaker model has been one of the fan-favorites due to its swooping clean design lines. The pair was designed by Christian Tresser and debuted in 1997, inspired by the Japanese bullet trains, giving an overall speedy aesthetic.
The design was conceptualized after the designer observed ripples caused by water droplets falling into a pond. The model has continued to capture attention of sneakerheads, as it comes constructed in a unique shape with comfortable fit and excellent performance.
The press release of the swoosh label describes the sneaker model as follows:
"Visible Air cushioning has evolved radically in the past three decades since the Air Max 1. The Air Max 180 introduced 180 degrees of visible Air, followed by the Air Max 93 that brought the new technique of blow-moulding into the process. Thanks to the new technique, full-length, visible Air cushioning would finally become a reality four years later in the Air Max 97."
It adds:
"Nature's most beloved resource would provide designer Christian Tresser with the inspiration behind the upper. 'The nature of it was water dropping into a pond. The water would drop and radiate out to the Air unit.'"
The shoe became the first Air Max silhouette to have full-length visible air cushioning.
The silhouette celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022 and has continued to hold its pace courtesy of GRs and new iterations in 2023. After recently presenting its debut Air Max 97 Futura model, the latest makeover comes clad in a "Wolf Grey" hue.
The upper of the sneakers comes constructed out of a mix of leather, canvas and mesh materials. The upper comes clad prominently in a light grey hue, which is complemented by the off-white hue. The off-white hue is accentuated on the tongues, laces and the air-infused sole unit.
Flair is added to the design with the addition of reflective layers fixed on the upper and profile swooshes clad in silver hue on the medial and lateral sides. A silver swoosh is added on the tongue tags.
The Air Max 97 "Wolf Grey" sneakers are rumored to be released via the e-commerce site of Nike, SNKRS app and select retailers shortly for a retail price of $175.
