The second season of Apple TV+'s nature docuseries, Prehistoric Planet, is all set to hit the streaming platform on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 12.01 am ET, as per CinemaBlend. The show focuses on dinosaurs and other various ancient animals living during the Late Cretaceous era. The creatures are recreated using high-tech CGI.

The series delves deep into the animals' existence prior to their extinction and explores their behavior, among other things. The first season received widespread critical acclaim, thanks to its ambitions and stunning visuals. It is narrated by Sir David Attenborough.

Apple TV+ dropped the official trailer for Prehistoric Planet season 2 on May 2, 2023. It offers a peek into the numerous fascinating events set to unfold in the highly anticipated new season. The trailer opens with Attenborough's serene voiceover that says:

''66 million years ago, planet Earth was ruled by dinosaurs, both majestic and extraordinary. The mysteries of their lives have been largely undiscovered. Untill now.''

Several stunning visuals from the documentary are briefly depicted as the new season promises another exciting journey that delves deep into the mysterious lives of an enigmatic species.

Along with the trailer, Apple TV+ also put out the official synopsis for the second season on their official YouTube channel, which reads:

''Prehistoric Planet season two continues to bring Earth’s history to life like never before as the series presents new dinosaurs, new habitats and new scientific discoveries while taking viewers around the world in an epic five-night adventure.''

The description further states:

''With new dinosaurs like the Tarchia, one of the largest Ankylosaurus, to returning fan-favorites like the Tyrannosaurus rex, and many more, Prehistoric Planet returns with an all-new season of prehistoric wonders.''

Based on the trailer and official description, fans can expect another enthralling season full of wonder and mysteries as it further explores how the dinosaurs lived in prehistoric times and what led to their extinction. The second season is expected to feature a total of five episodes.
