BH Entertainment, GOT7’s Jinyoung’s agency, announced on May 8 that the singer has officially enlisted for his mandatory military service. The announcement was made via the agency’s Instagram with a photograph showcasing him with buzzcut hair, a hoodie jacket, and making a “V” sign on a bright sunny day. The photograph was accompanied by the caption:

“Actor Park Jinyoung enlisted today. We ask for your support and encouragement until the day he greets fans again with improvement.”

Notably, Jinyoung is the second member of GOT7 to enlist in the military after leader Jay B. The other two older members of GOT7, Jackson and Mark, are foreigners and hence not required to enlist in the Korean Army. The maknae line members are Youngjae, Yugyeom, and BamBam, of whom Youngjae and Yugyeom are still young and will enlist in the military later. BamBam is a foreigner and hence is not required to enlist in the Korean military as well.

Ahgases (GOT7 fans) are wishing Jinyoung all the best for his military service. @sevendless wrote “Serve well Jinyoung”, sharing a picture of his buzz cut look.

GOT7’s Jinyoung shares a post on Instagram updating fans about his military enlistment

A day prior to his enlistment, the Yumi’s Cells actor took to his personal Instagram to share a mirror selfie, showing off his buzzcut look with fans. Although there was no caption on the photo, it conveyed a lot of emotions. The group’s two younger members, BamBam and Yugyeom, commented as well. While BamBam wrote “Return safely, I’ll be waiting”, Yugyeom shared a simple red heart emoji.

GOT7 fans took to social media to wish the Cotton Candy singer well and say that they will miss him. Although fans are sad that both Jay B and Jinyoung are currently in the military, they are hopeful that two years will pass by and in no time they will return from the military.

Previously, BH Entertainment had announced Jinyoung’s intentions of starting his mandatory military service soon and revealed that there will be no official event on the day and that fans are requested not to visit the Just Right singer to minimize crowding and casualties at the military site.

Hence, respecting the Yumi’s Cells star’s decision, fans refrained from visiting the military site and bid him farewell virtually. Additionally, the singer took to Bubble, an artist-fan messaging platform, to share one final message with Ahgases before enlistment. He assured them that he would be back healthier than ever and that they should not miss him much. He requested that Ahgases live happily and take care of themselves, as he will be doing well during the service.

Fans were also warmed to see a mini-GOT7 reunion when they spotted the group’s leader, Jay B, and the youngest member of the group, Yugyeom, dropping him off at his military site. Jay B took a special leave from his service to see his groupmate off. In the picture shared on Yugyeom’s Instagram stories, he can be seen tightly embracing Jinyoung as Jay B watches them endearingly beneath his mask.

BamBam couldn’t be there for personal reasons but took to Instagram to send him a goodbye message and wish for his healthy and safe return from the military. Fans are hoping that the remaining two members of GOT7 complete their enlistment safely in the future and that they get a group reunion soon.

Everything GOT7’s Jinyoung has been busy with since leaving JYP Entertainment

Back in January 2021, GOT7 members left JYP Entertainment following the expiration of their seven-year exclusive contract with the company to pursue their solo endeavors while still being GOT7. The Just Right singer signed with BH Entertainment and has been busy with acting and music projects ever since he left JYP Entertainment.

Since his departure from JYP Entertainment, he has been part of some incredible acting projects like The Devil Judge alongside Ji Sung and Yumi’s Cells opposite Kim Go-eun. He made his big screen debut with the Netflix movies Yaksha and A Christmas Carol.

He also released his debut solo album Chapter 0: WITH on January 18 this year and hosted his debut solo fan meeting at the 10th-anniversary global fan concert, '2023 PARK JINYOUNG FANCONCERT 'RENDEZVOUS' IN SEOUL: Secret meeting between you and me'.

At the recently concluded 59th Baeksang Awards, he bagged the Best New Actor Award in the film category and the TikTok Popularity Award for his performance in A Christmas Carol.
