Jill Biden wore a red dress to vote on Election Day and the internet had a lot to say. On Tuesday, November 5, the First Lady of the United States was spotted on her way to cast her ballot while sporting a striking red pantsuit paired with a white blouse and black and gold shoes.

As red is a color primarily associated with the Republican party, Biden wearing the red suit created controversy regarding who the First Lady's vote was for. Joe Biden's absence from Kamala Harris' election night watch party also fuelled these speculations. As called by AP, the election was eventually won by Donald Trump who currently possesses a winning 277 electoral votes as compared to Harris' 224.

A slew of X users were not too sure about Jill Biden's outfit, with some claiming that her vote went to Donald Trump. One X user who went by @rjeash claimed:

"🇺🇸👍 Absolutely PO'd! She wore red to stick it to Kamala. Love it! I have to admit, this the first time I've approved of her outfit! 😂", noted another netizen.
"She knew exactly what she was doing", speculated yet another X user.

More and more social media users were sure that Jill Biden allegedly cast her vote for Donald Trump. Many claimed that she and President Joe Biden were not fans of Kamala Harris.

"How to say I voted for Trump without saying I voted for Trump!", noted one X user.
"Oh yeah she voted Trump… we all know Jill hates Kamala.", added another netizen.
"Jill and Joe are putting on a clinic in passive aggressive behavior.", joked another user.

Joe and Jill Biden watched the election results from the White House residence

The controversy surrounding Jill Biden's Election Day outfit was further intensified when it was announced that Joe Biden was not going to be joining Kamala Harris' Election Night watch party at Howard University, Harris' alma mater. A senior White House official was quoted by the Daily Mail as stating on Election Day:

"Tonight, the president and First Lady will watch election results in the White House residence with longtime aides and senior White House staff."

The official added:

"The president will receive regular updates on the state of races across the country,"

Biden has been largely absent towards the closing stages of Kamala Harris' election campaign. According to an October report by Axios, Harris' campaign had allegedly refused to accept multiple offers from the United States president to help with the Vice President's campaign.

Fox News reported in a November 5 article that there were speculations of a rift between the Bidens and Kamala Harris following the president's re-election bid retraction. After initially proclaiming himself fit for re-election, Biden dropped out of the presidential race on July 21 and endorsed Harris on the very same day.

However, Jill Biden was busy campaigning for Kamala Harris last month. In early October, she left her husband to campaign across five states for the Vice President. Joe Biden was at the center of controversy when he addressed Tony Hinchcliffe's controversial joke about Puerto Rico being a "floating pile of garbage".

During a video call from the White House addressing Latino supporters on October 29, Biden stated:

"The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American."

However, the Associated Press reported that White House press officials altered the official transcript of the call, switching the word "supporters" for "supporter's".

Kamala Harris herself did not make an appearence at her Howard University watch party, canceling her scheduled post-verdict speech. Meanwhile, Donald Trump who is all set for another White House run, proclaimed his victory with a speech at his election headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida.
