The Good Bad Mother episode 6 brought forth a life-threatening twist that could break apart still-ill Kang-ho and Young-soon’s world. The series has seen a steady increase in viewership ratings since its premiere on April 26 and has become an impressive addition to Lee Do-hyun, Ra Mi-ran, and Ahn Eun-ji’s career roster.
Episode 5 of The Good Bad Mother ended with Kang-ho’s assassination attempt while Young-soon visited the village chief for medicines for her intense stomach pain.
It also gave viewers an adorable flashback of Kang-ho and Mi-joo’s relationship and the breakup. Sam-sik also returned to the village, while CEO Song sent his men to find a hidden ace that would give him an upper hand over Oh Tae-soo.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 introduces a health issue that the mother-son duo might never recover from. While Mi-joo gets back on her feet, Kang-ho gets left behind. However, The Good Bad Mother episode 6 also showcases how the local villagers treat her like family despite all the fights and misunderstandings.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6: Kang-ho and Young-soon face an unsolvable problem
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 opens with CEO Song’s trusted men devising a plan to search for evidence in Kang-ho’s house. The two sneak in but soon hear Kang-ho at the door. They hide in a cabinet and hear Kang-ho scolding Lion, the piglet, as he believes Lion created the mess because the house is also covered with poop.
A man on a motorcycle enters Kang-ho’s house and attempts to kill him. He fails as the CEO Song’s men leap from the closet and try to chase him down. They see a tattoo on the assassin’s arm but fail to catch him. Young-soon returns home and sees the mess. Kang-ho recalls everything that happened, but she thinks he was making up stories to cover up for Lion and scolds him.
On the other hand, CEO Song is frustrated that his men couldn’t find the original copy DNA test of Oh Tae-soo’s secretary’s child at Kang-ho’s place. The duo tells him about the assassination attempt, and CEO Song orders them to protect Kang-ho.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 also makes Sam-sik return to the village as he is unable to stay out of trouble. His employer finds him at a port and asks him for compensation of 100 million won for the brawl at the gambling den. After some back and forth, he jumps into the water and escapes.
Meanwhile, the Artist, Baek Hoon-ah, visits the chief villager, Son Yong-rak’s house. It turns out that the duo were classmates. After catching up, he talks about having trouble with Young-soon.
Young-soon tells Kang-ho that she’s going to the marketplace while they both watch the news about the foot-and-mouth disease. Kang-ho quietly says that he will see Young-soon later then. Young-soon smiles fondly and says that he always used to beg her to take him with her.
As Kang-ho tries making excuses, Young-soon says she knows he wants to play with Ye-jin and Seo-jin but asks him to stay out of trouble. Things look bright for Mi-joo in The Good Bad Mother episode 6 as Geum-ja gives her passbook and stamp to Mi-joo, asking her to open her own shop. Mi-joo is emotional and thankful. She goes to the town to search for a place she can rent.
Meanwhile, Kang-ho ends up following Mi-joo to town after he sees her accidentally drop her wallet. He goes to the location Mi-joo had asked the AI on her phone and searches for her. Mi-joo meets with a real estate agent. Young-soon is also in the same neighborhood, buying shoes for Kang-ho. She sets her eyes on a plain white canvas shoe and tells the shopkeeper that she’ll return for it soon.
Hoon-ah, the musician, tries to get the locals to go against Young-soon in The Good Bad Mother episode 6 as he also visits Geum-ja. He seems to have a plan to have people on his side. On the other hand, Young-soon buys supplements for the locals and three months’ worth of indigestion medicine.
Mi-joo goes door-to-door to ask people for a space to open her nail shop. She stops in front of an aquarium and remembers Kang-ho. The present Kang-ho sees her standing but loses her as a vehicle blocks his view.
Mi-joo reaches an agricultural chemicals shop to buy herbicide. She notices a small space in the shop. She advises an elderly lady on how to take care of her nails, and her friends strike a deal by letting Mi-joo open a shop-in-shop with the chemical shop owner.
A thief tries to steal Mi-joo’s wallet from Kang-ho’s jacket but fails as Kang-ho catches him by throwing an apple at him. He repeats, “hit a home run or strikeout,” which was the motto of CEO Song unknowingly.
Other shopkeepers around the incident pick a fight with Kang-ho to compensate them. Mi-joo sees the altercation and intervenes. Young-soon also stumbles upon them. She then drives the duo home.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 also shows glimpses of Kang-ho remembering his memories in bits and pieces. In the car, Kang-ho repeats “Bar Exam Meal,” which is the name Mi-joo embroidered on Kang-ho’s lunch bag. She is shocked to hear it while Young-soon beats him, as she thinks he said a bad word.
Young-soon apologizes to Mi-joo for her past behavior when she blamed her for Kang-ho missing his CSATs. She hands him the supplements for Geum-ja. Mi-joo shares words of encouragement with Young-soon.
Meanwhile, The Good Bad Mother episode 6 hints a bit at the local villagers being charmed by Baek Hoon-ah. Hoon-ah tricks them into believing that he will create a massive concert hall in Jou-ri, giving everyone a chance to boost their business. The locals agree to protest against Young-soon’s pig farm. Young-soon hears this when she goes to give them supplements but is heartbroken.
She goes to the farm as one pig goes into labor. Kang-ho is left on his own to deliver some of the supplements, and he delivers them at Sam-sik’s place. Nearby, he tries to fish for Mi-joo. Sam-sik, unknown to Kang-ho’s troubles, sees him.
We then see a flashback where The Good Bad Mother episode 6 reveals what went wrong between Sam-sik and Kang-ho. Sam-sik meets Kang-ho at a company dinner. The stark difference in class is apparent between the two. Kang-ho is naturally frustrated with him. Sometime later, Sam-sik is seen pleading with Kang-ho for help. However, he refuses to do so.
Cut to the present, Sam-sik and seven-year-old amnesiac Kang-ho get into a verbal fight. Kang-ho goes to the twins to get the help of their scary father. Mi-joo opens the door, and the kids talk to him as well. Learning that he is alone for the night, as Young-soon would stay at the farm for the pigs’ birth, they invite him to dinner.
Kang-ho asks Mi-joo for the twins’ father after they leave the table. Mi-joo is teary-eyed and tells Kang-ho never to meet them. Kang-ho asks Mi-joo if he was ever a bad person to her. As she doesn’t reply, he says that he thinks he was.
Meanwhile, village chief Yon-rak finds the bagful of supplements Young-soon got him and feels bad. Elsewhere, CEO Song’s men try searching the pig farm for evidence. They stumble upon Young-soon and lie about starting their own farm. As they begin to leave, Young-soon falls down in pain.
Kang-ho wakes up in the middle of his sleep, sensing something is wrong. He calls for Young-soon but gets no reply.
On the other hand, Mi-joo takes turns patting Ye-jin and Seo-jin and seems lost in thought. Geum-ja remembers the day Mi-joo and Kang-ho were born and how it sealed her and Young-soon’s friendship. She is also reminded of Young-soon reciprocating the support when Geum-ja’s husband passed away.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 also shows the heartbreaking backstory of Young-soon. In a flashback, we see a young Young-soon packing a gimbap for her brother, mother, and father, who were going to her dad’s company picnic. The family seems to have a close bond. However, as Young-soon turns, the car gets into a devastating accident that leaves her alone.
Remembering the past, Young-soon wakes up in a cold sweat. The next morning, Kang-ho searches for Young-soon everywhere, like she had taught him to. He calls her as a last resort, and we see a nurse answering the phone.
On the other hand, the locals betray Hoon-ah and do not participate in the protest against Young-soon’s pig farm after giving him excuses.
Meanwhile, a doctor asks Young-soon about her family members several times. Youn-soon smiles and says there’s no one with her and asks the doctor to tell her her diagnosis. The doctor reveals that Young-soon has stage 4 stomach cancer.
Young-soon is in denial and continues to laugh, repeating that she only had indigestion. The realization strikes, and she begs on her knees to save her, as Kang-ho needs her.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 ends with Kang-ho racing towards a pale Young-soon in the hospital. He falls from the wheelchair after bumping into a guy. Young-soon tries to lift him up, but her body fails her. Dejected and angry, she yells at a confused Kang-ho to get up on his own and walks away.
The Good Bad Mother episode 6 brought forth a twist that not many expected. With a limited time on Earth, will Young-soon see Kang-ho return to his past self? Who will take care of Kang-ho once Young-soon leaves him? Will Kang-ho ever remember the sacrifices his "bad mother" made for him?
