Amidst thunderous applause from the audience, the President of the United States quoted Norah Jones' American Anthem:
"The work and prayers of centuries have brought us to this day. What shall our legacy be, what will our children say, let me know in my heart when my days are through, America, America, I gave my best to you,"

"That explains why families are skipping meals, credit card debt is the highest it's ever been, auto repossessions are way up, utility rates are outrageous, insurance has more than doubled, etc...", another X user thought.
"She’ll be a president our children can look up to"- Joe Biden on Kamala Harris
Monday's Democratic National Convention at Chicago's United Center, signified a historic passing of the torch from the current United States President Joe Biden to the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Biden was welcomed onto the stage for his speech, by his 43-year-old only child, with his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, who remembered the president's late son Beau, before introducing him.
Biden started off his DNC speech by invoking his love for the U.S.A. before recalling his initial presidential bid and other presidential achievements. He declared:
"Now it’s summer, the winter has passed, and with a grateful heart, I stand before you now on this August night to report that democracy has prevailed, democracy has delivered and now democracy must be preserved."
Speaking about his rival from the opposition camp, Donald Trump, the President claimed that one cannot say they loved the country only if they win. In response to Trump's idea of America as a failing country, the current United States President said that the former President was "dead wrong" and also called him a "loser".
At one point during his speech when the crowd chanted "Thank you Joe", the President was quick to share the credit with his VP and successor, by asking the crowd to "Thank Kamala too". The President called his successor a tough, experienced person with "enormous integrity" before stating that her story represented "the best American story". He said:
"She’ll be a president our children can look up to. She’ll be a president respected by world leaders. … She will be a president we can all be proud of. She will be a historic president who puts her stamp on America’s future."
As thunderous applause reigned over the United Center, an emotional Joe Biden declared that he gave his best for America for 50 years, despite making "a lot of mistakes" in his career.
