Kamala Harris recently made headlines by mentioning Doritos in a fundraising email that she sent on August 16, 2024. In her fundraising email, Kamala highlighted how she felt during the 2016 election results, when Donald Trump became president.
Kamala mentioned going back home, sitting on the couch with a family-sized bag of Doritos. She also shared that she did not share a single chip with anyone, including her husband Douglas Emhoff.
In her email, Kamala stated:
"Two things are true eight years later: I still love Doritos and we still have not stopped fighting"
Kamala Harris' mention of the chips in her fundraising email, garnered a reaction from internet users who took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their opinion on the same. One of the X user complimented Kamala's email and stated:
"This is the most perfect campaign email I've ever received in my life. 10/10 - no notes. "Not even Doug." 😂"
"I think she is trying to tell us she wants more Doritos?" an X user tweeted
"I don’t think people understand how hard so many of us took the election results in 2016. That’s because the press only interviewed trump supporters. Sitting alone eating Doritos hits home to so many of us. You just never asked." another X user tweeted indicating Kamala expressed a relatable opinion.
""I still love Doritos and we have not stopped fighting" best campaign message ever take my money @KamalaHarris" an internet user tweeted
Additionally, internet users also called out American TV personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who appeared on Fox News and made a statement on Kamala's reference to the chips brand and questioned:
"That's the emotional response of the leader of the free world is to binge eat Doritos?"
Hasselbeck compared Kamala to Putin and questioned if one can imagine the Russian president "chugging down a bag of Sour Patch Kids" if he was depressed about things not going his way.
Calling out Hasselbeck via a tweet, an X user mentioned:
"Lmaoooooo she’s an idiot . This is America . Everybody’s eating Doritos"
"I don’t know about Elisabeth Hasselback, but, I like Presidential candidates who binge on Doritos when dealing with their emotional urges and not 10 year old little girls going up escalators!" another X user tweeted
"Hasselbach has been reduced to discussing bags of Doritos. Based on her journalistic talents, or lack there of, that tracks…" an internet user stated
