At the 82nd annual Golden Globes Awards, former co-stars Mark “Vin Diesel” Sinclair and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson crossed paths. Taking to the stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday (January 5, 2025) night, Vin said, “Hey, Dwayne,” addressing The Rock, seated in the audience.
However, when the camera shifted toward the WWE star, he gave a slight nod, followed by a quick and fading smile, and the rest of the audience responded laughingly. Given the actors’ rocky past, the brief moment has gone viral.
Netizens are reacting with memes and GIFs. For instance, X user @ThatboyBrady12 commented on @DiscussingFilm’s post sharing the clip and said:
“TOMORROW NIGHT ON WWE RAW ON NETFLIX.”
Many people joined the conversation and shared similar hilarious reactions on the platform.

“The Rock and Vin Diesel just gotta fight bro,” one person wrote.
“Tonight we got to see what The Rock looks like when he’s fantasizing about tearing Vin Diesel in half,” wrote another.

Exploring the feud between Vin Diesel and The Rock
Over the years, Vin Diesel and The Rock have been famous for playing the respective roles of Dominic Toretto and Luke Hobbs in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, in August 2016, the duo made headlines after Johnson took to Instagram to call out one of his co-stars as “chicken sh*t” and “candy a*s.”
It was soon revealed that the two actors developed tension on the sets of the eighth film in the franchise, The Fate of the Furious. In 2021, Diesel addressed the rumored feud while talking to Men’s Health. He cited “tough love” on his part, which he claimed made The Rock uncomfortable.
“It was a tough character to embody, the Hobbs character. My approach at the time was a lot of tough love to assist in getting that performance where it needed to be. As a producer, I [had] to say, ‘Okay, we’re going to take Dwayne Johnson, who’s associated with wrestling, and we’re going to force this cinematic world, audience members, to regard his character as someone that they don’t know,’” Vin shared.
“Hobbs hits you like a ton of bricks. That’s something that I’m proud of, that aesthetic. That took a lot of work. We had to get there and sometimes, at that time, I could give a lot of tough love. Not Felliniesque, but I would do anything I’d have to do in order to get performances in anything I’m producing.”
In November 2021, the now-57-year-old actor-producer attempted to bury the hatchet by inviting Johnson to appear in the 11th movie of the franchise, Fast X. However, at the time, Dwayne turned it down.
When the film was finally released in May 2023, The Rock made a surprise appearance during the mid-credits scene. At the time, it was reported that the duo had ended their feud. Dwayne even took to X to confirm this.
“Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve — and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love,” the 52-year-old wrestler wrote.
Over the years, they have addressed each other as “brothers,” and Diesel claimed he was “close” with Johnson. The latter, too, later shared in 2021 that, in retrospect, his Instagram post was unnecessary. In 2023, Fast X director Louis Leterrier even told The Hollywood Reporter that he tried to ensure that the actors made peace.
Diesel and Rock’s Fast & Furious co-star John Cena even addressed the beef during his 2024 appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast. He admitted it was a “rough pairing” because the duo was “two very alpha, driven people.”
“There’s certainly rumors about that. I can’t deny that… You get two, there can only be one,” Cena added.
Vin Diesel was on stage to present the Golden Globe Award for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement to Wicked on Sunday night. As per Men’s Journal, in response to the opportunity to present such an important award, Vin shared, "It's about damn time."
Meanwhile, The Rock was at the ceremony rooting for his 2024 animated musical, Moana 2. The pair is expected to reunite for Fast X: Part II, slated for a 2026 release.
