On January 12, 2025, President-elect Donald Trump reposted a fan-made conversation featuring him and former President Barack Obama at Jimmy Carter's funeral. In the video clip, Obama is seen sitting next to the President-elect and the two exchange pleasantries with each other.

Then, Barack Obama is seen telling the President-elect that he knew he'd win, to which the President-elect questioned "Oh really?". The fan-made conversation shifted to the President-elect telling Obama that anyone could've beaten Kamala Harris in the elections. The former President responds to the statement by saying:

"I was just as appalled. You know what happened.. he (Joe Biden) just didn't wanna leave...I did what I could to help her, she (Kamala Harris) was horrendous"

The fan-made conversation continues with Trump telling Obama that he realised Hillary Clinton still hates him a lot and that he knows she'll never forgive him. Listening to the statement, Obama laughs and the camera pans to Hillary Clinton.

Next, the President-elect tells Barack Obama that the two should meet to discuss things, after which Kamala Harris enters the National Cathedral where Jimmy Carter's funeral was held.

While she just turned to look at Obama and the President-elect and didn't greet them, the former President tells Trump in the fan-made edit:

"Did you see that? She won't even look at me."

Then, the President-elect said that some of Harris' people reported "she fell off the wagon" and Obama agreed to the statement.

While Trump reposted the video on his Truth Social account, it is a fan-made parody and doesn't reflect an actual conversation between the President-elect and the former POTUS.

"I didn't realize how friendly it looked" - Donald Trump comments on viral video showing interaction with Obama

In addition to the fan-made edit, the actual footage of Obama interacting with the President-elect at Jimmy Carter's funeral on January 9, 2025, went viral. According to a report by NBC News dated January 10, 2025, a reporter asked him about the viral video to which Trump said:

"I didn't realize how friendly it looked. I said, 'Boy, they look like two people that like each other.' And we probably do."

The President-elect added that he and the former POTUS have "a little different philosophies" but they got along with "just about everybody", seemingly referring to his interactions with other people at Jimmy Carter's funeral.

Additionally, as per The Post's report dated January 9, 2025, forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman provided an inference of what the President-elect and former POTUS talked about as depicted in the video.

The lip reader said that Trump warned Obama about finding a quiet place later in the day to discuss "a matter of importance". While specifics of the conversation remain unverified, Jeremy Freeman's translation of the same hinted at Obama and the President-elect potentially discussing international agreements.

Moreover, the former POTUS and Trump's interaction video at Jeremy Carter's funeral went viral, owing to the fact that the two have passed negative comments against one another in the past.

On December 29, 2024, the President-elect took to his Truth Social account and mentioned that while he disagreed with Jimmy Carter politically and philosophically, he realized that the former President loved the country and what it stands for.

The President-elect added that Carter worked hard to make America a better place and that he gives the late president his highest respect for the same.
