CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was shot dead on December 4, 2024, outside the New York Hilton Midtown in Manhattan, where the healthcare company was hosting an investor day.

The NYPD released a photo of the alleged shooter on December 5, 2024, to hunt him down, which led them to an Upper West Side youth hostel where the shooter is believed to have stayed before killing Brian Thompson.

As per the New York Post's report dated December 5, 2024, law enforcement forces said that the shooter reportedly checked into the Hi New York City Hostel with a fake New Jersey ID.
