A brand of ready-to-eat broccoli sold at Walmart has been taken off the shelves as a health precaution. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in a news release on December 31, 2024, stated that Braga Fresh, a California-based fresh vegetable company had recalled its Broccoli Florets as they were contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The discovery was made during random sampling by Texas Health & Human Services when one sample tested positive for having the organism. The company announced the same on December 27, 2024, through the US Food and Drug Administration's official website, warning its customers against consuming the Brocolli Florets:

"Braga Fresh is voluntarily issuing a precautionary advisory of a single production lot of washed and ready-to-eat 12oz Marketside Broccoli Florets with best if used by date Dec 10, 2024,"

It continued:

"This product is past its best-if-used-by date and is no longer in stores, but consumers may have frozen the item for later use. Consumers who have this product in their freezers should not consume and discard the product."

In other news, Walmart CFO, John David Rainey, in an interview with Fox Business on December 24, 2024, spoke on the retail giant’s business strategy to maintain traditional customers and attract higher-income households.

Rainey revealed that the retail company expanded its e-commerce product offerings and added higher-end items like Apple products and Bose headphones which are “sought after by more affluent customers.”

In turn, Walmart reported that the company has continued to gain market share in the US both in grocery and merchandise and households earning more than $100,000 accounted for 75% of its share gains.

David Rainey also stated that the retail company had also invested in its store experience by building modernized stores and remodeling the old ones:

“When you walk into one of these remodeled stores, it's a very, very different experience from what you've thought about historically,”

Walmart has remodeled about 700 stores each year for the past 3 years, and according to Rainey, they are set to remodel more. The remodeled stores offer the company’s new store concept with better layouts, a wider range of product selections, and new technology for customer support.

These stores also boast refreshed signs, new paint jobs, shopping carts, and improved checkout design.
