A rumor on social media recently claimed that disgraced hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was found unresponsive in his prison cell. YouTuber Jamil Peterson uploaded an over 2-hour-long video on his account “Jamil Peterson Mr. I Am Comedy…” on January 2, 2025, making such a claim.
“Breaking News’ Diddy Found Unconscious With Sock Around His Neck In Jail Cell’ & Rushed To Hospital,” the video was headlined.
It garnered severe traction online and earned 175,638 views at the time of writing.
However, the claims in the video are fake. Nowhere in the lengthy video did Jamil Peterson substantiate his claim, nor did he provide any evidence or verifiable source to confirm the same. Besides, no major media handle has reported on it, which further raises doubt, considering Diddy’s ongoing federal case has been a high-profile one.
Diddy was not found unconscious in jail
Jamil Peterson’s YouTube video about Diddy becoming unconscious in jail and lying with a sock around his neck is fabricated and unfounded and seemingly made for sensationalism and virality.
The video offered no proof to support the claim. Instead, it included multiple interview clips of Combs' former bodyguard, Gene Deal, who had been vocal about working with the Bad Boy Records magnate since his ex-boss’s September 2024 arrest.
Jamil Peterson’s post also showed his insight into the rumor. However, his constant sobbing and shaky voice made it hard to decipher. Meanwhile, the cover image of the Diddy video featured a collage of the rapper alongside an “Emergency” signboard outside the hospital.
However, the two other pictures in the collage showed an unidentified man with no similarities to Combs, lying unresponsive. One showed a random man on a stretcher being pushed through the halls of a hospital by a male and female medical worker. The other one showed the man on a hospital bed, seemingly on life support, while being surrounded by an unidentified woman and a child.
The pictures cannot be traced back to any verifiable source and could be concluded as computer-generated.
The YouTuber, who’s also a stand-up comedian, actor, and “comedy sketch filmmaker,” as per his bio, is known for making such parodical videos. His profile is full of sarcastic/fake videos related to Diddy and other celebrities, including Steve Harvey, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, and more.
Diddy reportedly had a meltdown at the Metropolitan Detention Center
After a grand jury indictment, Sean Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024. He has since faced multiple federal felony charges, including racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Combs has pleaded not guilty but has been denied bail several times. He is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, awaiting trial in May 2025.
According to an exclusive report by the Daily Mail published on December 27, 2024, the rapper had a “meltdown” during the holiday season. He seemingly couldn’t believe he was still behind bars. Diddy reportedly panicked and urged the prison guards to take him to the hospital for observation the day after Christmas. However, his request was turned down.
As per an insider’s statement to the outlet, Combs thought he would be out on bail by now, given his high-powered legal team. Instead, he had to spend the festive season incarcerated, which was allegedly a “nightmare” for him.
The close source further claimed that the 55-year-old eventually calmed himself down using the deep-breathing “meditation technique” he’d been using since being locked up. Meanwhile, another source told Daily Mail that Combs was still staying “strong” despite missing his family, especially his children.
Notably, according to Law and Crime reporter Elizabeth Millnew, during his last court hearing, Diddy allegedly appeared “astonishingly thinner” and “grayer.”
Apart from his federal charges, Combs is also facing hundreds of s*xual assault lawsuits, including the one where he’s the co-defendant of another music industry A-lister, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
The duo allegedly drugged and r*ped a 13-year-old girl at the MTV VMAs afterparty in 2000 in New York City in the presence of an unnamed female celebrity. Both Combs and Jay-Z have since refuted the accusation.
