An anonymous woman has recently filed a lawsuit against Tony Buzbee, the lawyer representing multiple accusers against Sean “Diddy” Combs and one against Jay-Z.
Trigger warning: This article mentions s*xual assault and STDs. Discretion is advised.
The civil suit, filed in the New York Supreme Court on December 19, alleged that Buzbee knowingly infected her with an undisclosed s*xually transmitted infection (STI).
In response to the lawsuit's accusations, Tony has claimed that it was a “conspiracy to discredit” him and “intimidate” him from pursuing the ongoing Diddy and Jay-Z cases. He has also blamed Roc Nation for conducting a smear campaign against him.
"We won’t just sit back and allow this criminality to continue. We have reported this conduct to the relevant legal authorities. And, we will be suing those behind this to put an end to this egregious behavior once and for all," Buzbee told People Magazine.
However, Roc Nation has denied the claims of running a smear campaign.
"God is behind the sunlight you keep referencing. We are not the source of every sunlight that you get… Shameful," the company wrote on Instagram.
Exploring the accusations against Tony Buzbee
On Thursday, a woman identified as Jane Doe filed a lawsuit against Tony Buzbee in New York. She claimed that she and Buzbee met online in 2018 and then in person for dinner and a show in Houston before spending the night at a five-star hotel.
The woman claimed to have had s*xual intercourse with Tony. However, he allegedly failed to inform her about the STD he was carrying. The exact kind of the disease remains undisclosed.
As per the court documents obtained by People Magazine, the accuser began feeling “uncomfortable sensations around her groin" after her alleged encounter with Buzbee and called her doctor. Later, she got tested and was informed that she had contracted an STD.
Jane Doe has claimed that she informed Tony Buzbee about her diagnosis. However, she said, he didn’t appear shocked, indicating he knew about it. He also allegedly apologized and requested her to keep the information to herself. The former army veteran reportedly offered the plaintiff free legal advice in exchange for her silence on the matter.
The accuser admitted to continuing to have relations with Buzbee and traveling with him to New York City and Panama. During one such alleged trip to New York City, the lawyer allegedly shoved a champagne flute in her face, and she ended up with a chipped tooth.
As per the lawsuit, Jane Doe has medical and dental records to support her claims about the alleged assault. The plaintiff has also claimed that Tony Buzbee fought her 2021 divorce case, during which he allegedly “doctored” the medical records to show that her now-estranged husband gave her the STI.
The civil suit has accused Buzbee of pressuring the woman to “settle” her divorce quickly so that the forgery wasn’t discovered. Jane Doe is suing Tony for legal malpractice, violation of judiciary law, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent misrepresentation, and tortious interference.
Tony Buzbee has refuted the allegations and told People Magazine that the lawsuit was "frivolous, laughable, and ridiculous and will be dismissed along like the others."
"The conspiracy to discredit me and intimidate me from [pursuing] claims in the Diddy litigation has become criminal... It now seems that every other day there is another false claim filed, all of which are being ginned up by individuals working on behalf of or in concert with Roc Nation," Buzbee said.
He said the lawsuit against him has "no factual merit whatsoever." Buzbee claimed the lawyer representing Jane Doe "demanded" $20 million from him before filing, purportedly warning Buzbee he would "trash his reputation" if he didn't pay.
Meanwhile, Roc Nation issued a statement on Instagram calling Tony Buzbee “Mr. 1800.” They claimed that the latter holding them “criminally responsible for his legal woes” was “shameful.”
This is not the first time Buzbee has been slammed with such a lawsuit. Last month, a woman sued him for malpractice and intimidation, adding it was unrelated to his ongoing Diddy suits.
For the unversed, Tony Buzbee is representing 120 people against Sean “Diddy” Combs in multiple s*xual assault lawsuits. One of them has also accused Jay-Z of drugging and r*ping a 13-year-old girl at an MTV VMAs afterparty in New York City in 2000 alongside Diddy, while an unnamed female celebrity reportedly witnessed it.
Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and his attorney, Alex Spiro, have denied the accusations and blamed Tony Buzbee for the drama. The Roc-A-Fella co-founder even threatened to "expose" Buzbee for the "fraud" he is in a "public fashion."
Tony Buzbee is also suing Jay-Z, Roc Nation, and the law firms representing them, including Marcy Croft and Quinn Emanuel. He has accused them of violating Texas state laws and offering one of his former clients money to sue his law firm.
