Austrian-American actor Arnold Schwarzenegger sparked controversy online after he made some blazing remarks about Democrats. During the recent episode of SiriusXM’s Literally! With Rob Lowe, the 76-year-old star was asked his opinion on what it means to be a Democrat and what it means to be a Republican. While answering Robe Lowe’s question about Democrats, Schwarzenegger said:
“Ruin your cities. That’s what the Democrats would say. It would be about ruining the cities. We want to f*ck up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now.”
When the host counter-questioned why Arnold thought Democrats want to “ruin cities,” the Terminator star replied he had “no idea.” Rob Lowe then asked about Schwarzenegger's thoughts on Robert Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 presidential run, to which he replied, “Great.” Arnold added that he has known Kennedy for “a long time” and thinks he could “create a better country” and become president since he has it “in his blood.”
Schwarzenegger also said that several events in the 2024 presidential race, such as former President Donald Trump's indictment and probes into President Joe Biden's overseas business connections with his son, Hunter, might affect the result.
"Everything moves all the time with these new revelations. And so I think that any one of the candidates can in fact win. It all depends on which way, you know, the wind blows."
Netizens react to Arnold Schwarzenegger's comments about Democrats
After Arnold Schwarzenegger's comments about Democrats "ruining cities" went viral, X (formerly Twitter) users were divided. While several users hailed the True Lies actor for his remarks, others criticized him for previously asking people to "screw" their freedom who did not comply with wearing masks.
Some people also slammed the actor for "trying to save himself now." Meanwhile, one person said this was the first time they agreed with Arnold Schwarzenegger's remarks.
This is not the first time that Arnold Schwarzenegger has expressed his views outrightly. Previously, he spoke about several issues, including the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, and climate change.
While appearing on an episode of The View, Arnold Schwarzenegger called for action on comprehensive immigration reform and a secure border.
"You have to really have comprehensive immigration reform, and you have to look at this immigration problem in a comprehensive way. You can, first of all, I believe very strongly in having a border that no one can get through. That’s number one for me," he said.
Schwarzenegger, who was married to Maria Shriver from 1986 to 2021, served as the Californian governor for eight years after winning a recall election in 2003.
