American Idol can be watched on the ABC channel.

Since March 2018, American Idol has been broadcast on ABC. The show's initial run on FOX lasted from 2002 to 2016. On ABC, the program airs on Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. If you miss the live broadcast, you can watch it later on Hulu, ABC.com, the ABC app, and Roku.

Simon Fuller created the American singing competition television show American Idol, which was made by Fremantle North America and 19 Entertainment and is distributed by the same company. For 15 seasons, it was broadcast on Fox from June 11, 2002, to April 7, 2016. A revival of the show started airing on ABC on March 11, 2018. One of the most popular shows in American television history, it began as a supplement to the Idols format based on “Pop Idol” on British television. The idea behind the show is to find recording stars among undiscovered singing talent, with American viewers choosing the winner via phone, internet, and SMS text voting.

The winners of the first 20 seasons, as chosen by viewers, are Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, Trent Harmon, Maddie Poppe, Laine Hardy, Just Sam, Chayce Beckham, and Noah Thompson.

How do you watch American Idol on Hulu?

If you missed the initial broadcasts of American Idol, it is still available on Hulu. Subscribers to Hulu can also add additional channels like Starz ($8.99 per month after a 7-day free trial) and HBO Max ($14.99 per month after a free one-week trial).

For an additional $13.99 per month, Hulu can be bundled with Disney+ and ESPN+. One Hulu account can contain up to six profiles, and you can stream from up to two different screens at once. Hulu is accessible on a variety of devices, including laptops and smart TVs.

The cheaper package on Hulu costs $12.99 per month, but you also get the option to download shows and watch them offline. Additionally, Hulu + Live TV, which also includes Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+, is $69.99 per month for over 75 live channels, including networks like ABC, NBC, and CBS.

Who are the judges on American Idol?

A panel of vocal judges from American Idol evaluates the contestants' performances. Paula Abdul, a singer and choreographer; Randy Jackson, a record producer and music manager; and Simon Cowell, a music executive and manager, served as the original judges for seasons one through eight.

The singers Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. served on the judging panel for the last three seasons of Fox's singing competition. Three new judges joined the panel for season 16: singers Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie. Radio personality Ryan Seacrest and comedian Brian Dunkleman shared hosting duties for the first season, but Seacrest has since taken over completely.

It has been said that American Idol's success is "unparalleled in broadcasting history." The series, according to a rival TV executive, was "the most influential show in television history." It was acknowledged as a launching pad for many artists' ascension to stardom. In its first ten years, Billboard magazine claims that "Idol has spawned 345 Billboard chart-toppers and a platoon of pop idols, including Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia, Ruben Studdard, Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, Adam Lambert, and Jordin Sparks, while remaining a TV ratings juggernaut."

Its performance show or result show topped the U.S. television ratings for an unprecedented eight years, from the 2003–04 television season through the 2010–11 television season.

What is the American Idol season finale prize?

The winner typically signs a record deal with a major label, which could be for up to six albums. They also sign a management deal with American Idol-affiliated 19 Management (which has the first right of refusal to sign all contestants), in addition to other lucrative deals. According to reports, every winner up until the ninth season made at least $1 million in their first year as the winner. The contract initially included a $250,000 or more advance, but over the years with Fox, that amount decreased to about $62,500. Major labels had also offered record deals to all of the first ten runners-up and some of the other finalists.

The runner-up, however, may only be guaranteed a single-season deal as of the eleventh season. First refusal to sign contestants was granted to BMG/Sony (first through ninth seasons), UMG (tenth through fifteenth seasons), and Disney Music Group's Hollywood Records (sixteenth through eighteenth seasons) for a period of three months following the season finale.

The winning contestant had a record deal with Big Machine Records for the fourteenth and fifteenth seasons. The albums of some of the chosen contestants, including Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, and Diana DeGarmo, were also produced by renowned music mogul Clive Davis.

All ten of the top finalists—11 in the tenth and twelfth seasons, 5 in the fourteenth season, and 7 in the sixteenth season—are given the opportunity to go on a tour where they may each earn a six-figure sum.
