53-year-old Arthur Jensen has been sentenced to five decades in prison after he was convicted of murdering a teenage girl named Adara Bunn. The Illinois man killed Bunn by luring her to his residence by telling her that she could buy Pocahontas cups from him. According to Assistant State's Attorney Michael Quinlan, he was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder.

Quinlan further described the murder as one of the worst cases. Prosecutors confirmed that authorities were called by the neighbors on the dreadful day in August 2019, at around 4:15 pm local time. They claimed to have heard screaming and yelling from Jensen's house.

Upon arrival, cops found Adara Bunn's body inside the residence. Although Jensen has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, he has to serve 47 years behind bars since he had already spent three years in custody.

Adara Bunn, a 17-year-old teenager was brutally killed by Arthur Jensen back in 2019 after he lured her to his house

The tragic incident took place on August 5, 2019, in Illinois, when Arthur Jensen lured Adara Bunn to his house and then strangled her to death. It was confirmed that she died of "ligature strangulation."

As per WCIA, neighbors called the cops at around 4:15 pm local time and when the authorities arrived, Jensen told them:

“There’s a girl inside and I strangled her.”

Officers then mentioned that they found a 17-year-old Caucasian girl inside the house on W. Main Street. Authorities immediately took Jensen into custody. After a thorough investigation, law enforcement officials discovered that Adara Bunn was at Jensen's residence from the weekend before she got strangled and killed.

Adara Bunn and her mum went to Jensen's place for a garage sale on August 2, 2019. Quinlan further stated that the convict's wife was not present in town when the tragic incident took place. Another friend of Jensen's was also present when Adara Bunn came to ask for more items. Jensen asked her to come back later. Quinlan continued by saying:

“The victim came back to the Jensen’s residence on that Sunday wanting to talk to [Jensen’s] wife to see if she had any more memorabilia she could buy.”

As per People, he additionally said:

“This was a young girl about to enter her junior year in a couple of weeks. She was a straight-A student who was hoping to become a veterinarian.”

Adara Bunn was a student at the Milford Area Public Schools. The school district is mourning the loss of the 17-year-old girl.

The district further said:

“We are suffering as a staff, student body, and community for this loss. Please keep the family of our student in your thoughts and prayers during this terrible time. We would like to offer comfort and support to any interested students by providing counseling services during the upcoming days.”

Jensen's sentencing took place on Monday, after five years of proceedings. In March, the 53-year-old man was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder.

Law enforcement officials have not revealed the motive behind the horrific crime

The entire community was shocked by the horrific death of the young girl in 2019. A resident named Ray Huff spoke to news outlets, and described Jensen to be "just a nice easy-going fellow." Locals further stated that the fact that he committed the heinous crime, came as a surprise to everybody.

Adara's obituary referred to her as "Sissy" and read:

“Sissy enjoyed reading, fishing, school amongst other things. She was an all-around joy to everyone around her… She will be missed by so many that loved her dearly.”

The entire community was angry after the tragic incident. It also received strong reactions from netizens, over several social media platforms.

According to State's Attorney James Devine, the sentence is appropriate and is at par with what the state requested.

“The family afterward [was] very relieved and glad that this process is done, as far as the court process.”

Lance C. Cagle, Jensen's defense lawyer attempted to avoid Jensen's on-site confessions during the court proceedings. Cagle also recommended a 30-year prison sentence, which was eventually rejected by the judge.

Cagle has confirmed that they have already executed the appeals process for Jensen. Authorities haven't publicly revealed if Bunn was s*xually assaulted. They have also never released the motive behind the horrific crime.
