American Pickers star Frank Fritz walked away from the show in March 2020 for back surgery. In July 2021, his co-star Mike Wolfe confirmed that Fritz would not return to the series.

The American Pickers' 21st season was supposed to be a standard season with Frank and Mike visiting the United States for valuable antiques. Episode seven of the series, entitled Burlesque Queen, featured the two men as usual, but Frank was nowhere to be seen through episode eight. His co-hosts, Mike and Danielle Colby did not take his absence into account, and the season went on without Frank.

Why did Frank Fritz quit American Pickers?

Frank's stroke happened a year after he was fired from American Pickers. He appeared for the last time in the program in March 2020 before taking leave to get over an exhausting back surgery that left him with 185 stitches and two stems in the spine. After his recovery, Fritz was open to wanting to get back on the show. However, he was subsequently replaced by the brother of Wolfe Robbie.

Later, Mike disclosed in public that Frank was thrown out of the show in July 2021. Although they were childhood friends, Frank revealed that he was not contacted by Mike, since he got fired from the show. According to U.S. Sun, since Frank got fired, the audience on the show has dropped to less than a million viewers for the first time in years. The viewers affirmed that it is "impossible" without Indiana native Frank. Nevertheless, ratings have improved since then.

American Pickers is a reality TV series whose premiere took place on January 18, 2010, on History, produced by A & E Television Networks and Cineflix Media. The show follows antique owners and collectors Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, who travel across the U.S. to purchase a variety of items for resale, for customers, or for their personal collections.

Danielle Colby manages Wolfe's corporate office, Antique Archaeology, from their LeClaire base in Iowa, and most recently to a second location in Nashville, Tennessee. They first drove in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and later in a Ford Transit. Fritz sells his purchases to his own shop, and on his website, Frank Fritz Finds, upstream of Savanna, Illinois. The men are taking the road, not only to follow the tracks Colby has generated, but also "freestyling," stopping at places that appear to contain items that are worthwhile. Some fields are also selected more than once.
