Morphling is a strong painkiller used for treating severe injuries and illnesses. It is a lot like the real-world painkiller called morphine, and the name "morphling" probably comes from a mix-up of the original drug name. People in the film can take it by injecting it into their veins or swallowing it in the form of pills or liquid.

Morphling is quite expensive, and people can only get it if they have connections to the Capitol or District 13. It is a kind of medicine that makes them feel less, both in terms of pain and their regular emotions. People usually use it to treat severe pain, but sometimes doctors also give it to stabilize someone's mood. However, unlike real morphine, Morphling is really addictive and those people who can’t stop their usage of Morphling are called “morphlings.”

If people use this drug for a long time, it can lead to severe weight loss and a yellowing of their skin, which shows that their liver is being harmed. When people try to stop using morphling, they get shaky and vomit because of withdrawal symptoms.

The morphlings were a pair of tributes from District 6, one male and one female. They had both won a Hunger Games in the past and were chosen to participate in the 75th Hunger Games. Because of their victories, they were likely responsible for mentoring other tributes from District 6.

These morphlings had won two earlier Hunger Games, but the experience had left them deeply scarred. To cope with the terrible memories, they turned to a strong painkiller called morphling, and this seriously affected their physical health. Their skin had become loose and had an unhealthy yellowish color.
