Henry Cavill played August Walker aka John Lark, an assassin working for Sloane (Angela Bassett) in the Special Activities Division of the CIA. He is sent to monitor Ethan (Tom Cruise) and his Impossible Missions Forces (IMF) team members.

Cavill was lauded by many for his performances. However by the end of the film, many were left heartbroken after Cavill's character Lark ended up dying following an intense helicopter chase. According to Cavill, the helicopter scene was one of the hardest scenes he had ever done in his career. During an interview with Collider, Cavill revealed that in the classic Mission: Impossible franchise tradition, the sequence was filmed mostly practically. Hence, they filmed the climax (the helicopter scene) in frigid winter temperatures with the helicopter door open. However, Cavill also added that though it was unpleasant to shoot the scene he yet had no regrets.

Cavill said, "Even though it's not a single shot, it's a sequence, and I love this sequence and I would do it again in a heartbeat, but physically the most enduring was a ‘Mission: Impossible’ helicopter sequence. It was so extremely cold, literally above the Southern Alps in winter, with the doors open on a helicopter. I'm sticking my face into the wind and firing blanks, with all sorts of stuff flying back at me, and just doing it over, and over, and over again. Completely deaf, just waiting for the pilot to scream something inaudible and do this [gesture], which means we are rolling. So I had to then just keep on acting with my head out the window until I assumed that they had stopped shooting."

He continued by saying, "So I was watching either Tom's helicopter in front or behind, and watching the camera ship as well, to see when the camera ship pulled away and did its own thing. I was like, "Okay, I think that means I can sit back in now." I'll do that for 40 minutes, then land, and then sit by a little Red Rad heater, and warm my hands up. Within half an hour they're like, "Right, we're refueled. Let's go again." It was just having to suck it up and do that for at least two weeks. That was rough, but I loved the sequence, and it was so worth it.“

There is a major possibility that Cavill would return as John Lark for Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 8. Although Cavill's character was clearly shown to be dead in Fallout, however, during a small talk with Mission: Impossible - Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie, he revealed that some Mission Impossible: Fallout characters will make their way to 8.

According to Screenrant, while talking about Fallout members coming back, Christopher McQuarrie said, “There is a returning character from Fallout and returning in a delightfully unexpected way… Kind of an Easter egg in part one and then in full force in part two.”

Despite McQuarrie not talking about Cavill's name officially, it still is safe to assume that Cavill's character would be resurrected for the eighth installment of the franchise.
