As the world gears up for Halloween, a new Ghostface trend has taken over TikTok and other social media platforms. The trend, which went viral in 2021, has made a comeback this year. The Ghostface trend has been inspired by the romance horror novel Scream for Us by Molly Doyle, and in the trend, many people can be seen wearing the Ghostface mask in front of their partners.

The romance horror novel by Molly sees women crushing over Damien, the main character of the novel who wears a Ghostface mask. And now, TikTokers and social media users are taking this aspect of the novel seriously as they are asking their partners to wear these masks in front of them.

The trend is all about partners texting or asking their significant others to get the mask and wear it in the bedroom. As one person enters the room, their partner reacts to the mask in a similar way as done in the movie and the novel.

A few people are also enacting the iconic scenes from the romance novels, where the person with the mask leans on the door and kisses their partner. As the video plays, users add a particular audio to it, called the “Scream audio edit.” It is a small clip that has some music and a few dialogues from the movie Scream.

The Ghostface trend has over 12 billion views on TikTok

With Halloween being just around the corner, the Ghostface husband trend on TikTok, which has garnered more than 12 billion views, has inspired people to purchase Ghostface masks for their husbands and partners, reminiscent of the iconic Scream movies.

Instead of reacting with fear upon seeing them wear the masks, they share videos of themselves passionately kissing in front of the camera.

One of the videos uploaded by a TikTok user, @elitereading has gone viral, where the woman can be seen getting the Ghostface mask, and then asking her husband if he tried the mask yet. Just then, the husband appears from the back, wearing the mask.

The video has received thousands of likes and comments, along with more than two million views, in just a few days of uploading it.

The trend has become more of a couples thing now, as it involves two people, one wearing the mask, and the other partner getting all excited after seeing the mask.

However, when the trend first made its entry on social media back in 2021, people donned the mask as a Halloween outfit, mainly to celebrate the forthcoming release of the movie which made its way to theatres in January 2022.

Back in 2021, the trend started as soon as the trailer was released on October 12. Furthermore, as many people upload their take on the new trend, many social media users also believe that the trend could make a comeback this Halloween as many people can dress up as the Scream character.
