Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump was spotted attending his first day of college at New York University on Wednesday (September 4). The 18-year-old was seen accompanied by Secret Service agents on both sides at NYU's Manhattan campus.
On arrival, the youngster first stopped at the Dean's office before moving to his classes, as per The NY Post. Barron will be attending the NYU Stern School of Business, widely considered one of the most prestigious business schools in the world.
At the undergraduate level, the Stern Business School offers multiple prestigious programs, including BS in Business, BS in Business and Political Economy and other dual degree programmes.
The school has an acceptance rate of 6-12% for its undergraduate programs, as per College Vine, and around 31.4% for their MBA programmes per Clear Admit. The undergraduate program is considered a highly competitive one, with only 1 our of 20 students being selected on an average. The annual tuition fee at the NYU Stern School of Business starts at $62,700/year.
It's unknown which undergraduate programme Barron Trump has enrolled himself in. The youngster is expected to live off-campus and travel to the Manhanttan campus from his father's residence at the Trump Tower building on Fifth Avenue. On his first day of college, the teenager wore a white polo T-shirt and black pants and had a Swiss Gear backpack on his shoulder.
Former President Donald Trump reveals his son Barron Trump's college plans
In August 2024, Donald Trump had exclusively told NY Post about his son Barron Trump's plans to attend university in New York City this year. The former POTUS kept the university's name under wraps at the time but said that his son had always been a "good student and is "very smart."
Ahead of his son's first day at NYu Stern, the 2024 Republican presidential nominee told Daily Mail that his son is sent to attend the prestigious NYU business school.
Barron is Trump's only son with his current wife, Melania Trump. In his interview dated September 4, 2024, Donald Trump said:
"He was accepted to a lot of colleges. He's a very smart guy, and he'll be going to Stern, the business school, which is a great school at N.Y.U."
Barron Trump graduated from the prestigious Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach in May this year. The teenager's college plans were kept under wraps until his father revealed details in the aforementioned interview.
Donald Trump also mentioned that among the multiple offers his son received were from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, Trump's alma mater, but Barron opted to go to Stern instead. The former president added:
"It's a very high quality place. He liked it. He liked the school. We liked NYU. I've known NYU for a long time, but it's one of the highest rated. I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn't do that. We went for Stern."
The MAGA leader also praised his youngest son, describing him as a "very high aptitude child". However, he added that Barron Trump is growing up quickly. The POTUS continued:
"He's a very high aptitude child, but he's no longer a child. He's just passed into something beyond child-dom. He's he's doing great."
Trump added that his son plans to continue playing soccer in college. The 18-year-old has reportedly been a fan of the sport since childhood and also represented one of DC United's youth team.
As per NY Post, the former president has also mentioned earlier that his son takes a keen interest in politics.
Donald Trump is set to contest the 2024 Presidential elections against vice-president Kamala Harris in November. Speaking ahead of the elections, Trump credited his son Barron Trump for playing a key role in his campaign.
In an interview dated last week with Daily Mail, Trump explained that his son helps him connect with the masses:
"He knows so much about it. Adin Ross, you know, I mean, I do some people that I wasn't so familiar with, different generation. He knows every one of them. And we've had tremendous success."
Trump was referring to the live stream with Adin Ross, which had 580,000 live viewers at its peak. It was the third-most viewed stream on the Kick platform this year.
