Exploring Married to Medicine's new member Phaedra Parks' early life

Phaedra Parks, an African-American woman, was born to American parents in Athens, Georgia, on October 26, 1973. Her parents, Pastor Henry Parks and Regina Bell, raised her with two brothers, Jacques and Albert, and a sister Keosha. The Married to Medicine newbie had stepped in front of the camera at a young age, appearing in advertisements and shows.

Phaedra Parks is decorated with educational degrees

The first chink in her armor was her Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Wesleyan College, where she graduated with flying colors. Following that, she attended the London School of Economics. She was then awarded her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia.

But this reality TV sensation was far from done with learning. Alongside her Juris Doctor degree, she also pursued a degree from Jefferson State University in mortuary sciences. Upon graduating, she used her degrees to advance in the professional realm.

Phaedra Parks' incredible career trajectory

Combining her entrepreneurial and legal skills and knowledge, Phaedra opened her own law firm, The Parks Group. The law firm has represented several noteworthy personalities, including R&B legend Bobby Brown. She returned to her law school to be on their alumni council in 2006, which is also when she was added to the list of members at the U.G.A. Law School Board and the Grammy Recording Board.

She also provided legal aid to her fellow housewife, Sheree Whitfield, during her time on the Real Housewives of Atlanta, on which she featured from 2010 to 2017. Married to Medicine's newest cast member, Phaedra Parks' bio for the show highlights her several professional pursuits.

Her bio reads,

"Parks is also a successful attorney, businesswoman, media personality, motivational speaker, author and social activist."

Along with her law practice, she also started a venture as a mortician, which picked up pace during the widespread COVID-19 pandemic. She also wrote the book Secrets of the Southern Belle: How to Be Nice, Work Hard, Look Pretty, Have Fun, and Never Have an O, and then co-authored the tell-all titled Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil, with Angela Stanton.

Now making her debut on Married to Medicine season 10, her mission is to start up a Wellness Center focusing on holistic healing, which was motivated by her most recent accolade, the certificate of a Reiki Master.

Phaedra Parks' romantic past

The now-single Phaedra Parks got hitched to Apollo Nida in 2009, around the time she appeared on RHOA. They had two sons, Ayden and Dylan.

Phaedra and Apollo went through a messy public divorce in 2017. In 2014, Apollo was convicted of conspiring to commit bank, mail, and wire fraud. He confessed that he was guilty of identity theft and bank fraud and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

While they share custody of their kids legally, physical custody lies with Phaedra.
