Mel Gibson made an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience uploaded on January 9, 2025, wherein he claimed that three of his friends who had stage four cancer were cured by taking Ivermectin and Fenbendazole. Gibson added that his friends drank hydrochloride and that there were studies on the same.

Ivermectin is used to treat intestinal infections from threadworms, river blindness, and other types of worm infections. According to the Mayo Clinic, the common side effects of ivermectin include pain in the joints, stiffness or muscle pain, and difficulty in movement, along with painful, swollen, tender lymph glands in the armpit.

The less common side effects of ivermectin include chest pain, cold sweats, black, tarry stools, cough, and difficulty in urination, among other possible side effects.

Fenbendazole is an antiparasitic drug for humans and also a parasitic treatment in animals. According to Cancer Choices, there is preliminary evidence of the drug's anticancer effects so far.

The website mentions that an elderly patient with advanced non-small cell lung cancer being self-treated with fenbendazole developed liver dysfunction which settled when the drug was stopped.

Moreover, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) don't permit fenbendazole for human use.

"All our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel" - Mel Gibson took a dig at California governor over California wildfires

During his recent appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, Mel Gibson took a dig at California Governor Gavin Newsom concerning the wildfires in the state.

Gibson recalled that in 2019, Gavin Newsom said that he was going to take care of the forests and maintain the forests and "do all that kinda stuff".

Then, Gibson said that Newsom didn't do anything to which Joe Rogan said that "they cut the water off" on top of that. Rogan was referring to the incident of some fire hydrants running dry amid the LA wildfires as the hydrants were overstressed and didn't have assistance from the firefighting aircraft for hours on January 8, 2025.

Responding to Joe Rogan, Mel Gibson said:

“Yeah, that’s right, yeah. It’s all funny. And then I think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin’s hair gel. I don’t know but it’s like, you know, it’s sad, it’s like — the place is just on fire.”

Additionally, in a telephonic interview on NewsNation's Elizabeth Vargas Reports on January 9, 2025, Gibson talked about losing his Malibu home in the LA wildfires when he was in Austin to record his podcast with Joe Rogan.

Calling it devastating, Mel Gibson told Elizabeth Vargas:

“Obviously, it’s kind of devastating. It’s emotional. You live there for a long time, and you had all your stuff. You remember George Carlin talking about your stuff? I had my stuff there, and it’s all like, I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff, because it’s all in cinders.”

Mel Gibson mentioned that his son Lars and his wife Rosalind Ross were safe from the LA wildfires as they had evacuated their residence.

Gibson shared that Ed Harris' property down the street from his residence burned down during the wildfire and that Gibson's chickens survived it.

The actor also said that the good news was that everyone he loves and his family members are well and out of harm's way, adding that it is all he cares about.
