What is Squid Game about?
Squid Game's plot is based on real-life famous childhood Korean games. The series revolves around a secret plot in which 456 people, all of whom are in dire financial need, risk their lives to play a series of lethal children's games for the chance to win a 45.6 billion (US$35 million, €33 million, or £29 million as of a broadcast) prize.
The main character of the story is Seong Gi-hun, a divorced father and indebted gambler who lives alone with his elderly mother and who truly loves his daughter. Seong Gi-hun often thinks about changing his way of living and the conditions of his daughter but fails at it. Until one day he gets invited to play a series of children's games for a chance at a large cash prize.
After much hesitation, Gi-hun then accepts the offer only to find himself and hundred other citizens stuck in a deadly trap as each game ends with their death. Gi-hun makes his allies while he stays and has to make sure that each of his comrades survives the horrific games while also eyeing the huge cash prize that's awaiting them at the end of the line. However, faith has some other plans for all of them.
