The Walking Dead show debuted on October 31, 2010, and it is only aired on cable channel AMC in the US and Disney+ and Fox Networks Group in other countries.
The events of The Walking Dead occur after a global zombie apocalypse has begun. Rick Grimes, a deputy sheriff in King County, Georgia, awakens from a coma to find that zombies have taken over the world. Rick visits Atlanta alone after making friends with Morgan Jones and then discovers his wife Lori, son Carl, and Shane Walsh, his best friend and police partner, among other survivors, in the woods.
The entire group returns to Atlanta and visits the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) building after being attacked by walkers at night. There, they learn from the lone remaining scientist that there is currently no cure for the pandemic. Early in the series, it is discovered that all living humans carry the pathogen that causes the mutation, despite the fact that it initially seems that only humans who are bitten or scratched by walkers can turn into other walkers.
After the pathogen's host dies, the mutation takes effect, and the only option to permanently end a walker's life is to either cause brain damage or completely destroy it. The zombies, also known as "walkers," amble in their direction and shamble toward them in order to devour living people and other animals. They are attracted to sounds like gunshots as well as different scents.
The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead began on October 31, 2010 and aired until December 5, 2010.
How many seasons are there in The Walking Dead?
The post-apocalyptic horror series The Walking Dead ran for eleven seasons. The program came to an end on November 20, 2022. However, in order to allow for sequels, the conclusion was somewhat open-ended.
A brief plot synopsis of all the eleven seasons are given below (a few spoilers) -
In response to all the communities being terrorized by the Saviors, the Hilltop Colony, the Kingdom, Oceanside, and Alexandria formed a group of four joint communities known as the Coalition.
Season One (2010)
After being brought out of a coma, deputy sheriff Rick Grimes discovers that zombies have taken over the world in King County, Georgia. After becoming friends with Morgan Jones, Rick travels to Atlanta alone. There, he runs into his best friend and police partner Shane Walsh and other survivors in the woods, including his wife Lori and son Carl.
Following a nighttime attack by walkers, the entire group makes its way back to Atlanta and the Center for Disease Control. However, there is only one scientist left, and she informs them that there is currently no known cure for the pandemic.
Season Two (2011-12)
While looking for Sophia, Carol's missing daughter, Rick's group finds refuge at Hershel Greene's farm. Rick finds out that Lori is pregnant and that Shane and Lori had a romantic relationship while he was unconscious. Rick is eventually forced to kill Shane out of self-defense as their friendship deteriorates. As a result of the uproar, walkers are drawn to the farm, forcing Hershel's family and Rick's group to flee.
Season Three (2012-13)
Rick's group discovers a remote prison which they make their new home after purging it of walkers, eight months after leaving the farm, without Andrea but with Hershel's family. Rick begins to lose his mind and experience hallucinations after Lori dies during an emergency C-section.
Andrea was saved by Michonne, and the two go on to find the fortified town of Woodbury, which is ruled by the dishonest "Governor," who wants to wipe out the group at the prison. The remaining Woodbury residents relocate inside the jail.
Season Four (2013-14)
A deadly flu killed many inmates at the prison several months after the governor attacked. After killing Martinez, who was once his right-hand man, the governor seizes control of the group and leads them into the prison. Hershel and the Governor are slain, forcing Rick's group to split up and run away.
They all come across numerous indicators pointing to Terminus, a haven of safety. They reunite in groups at Terminus, but Rick's group—absent Carol—is taken prisoner for an unforeseen reason.
Season Five (2014-15)
The people who live in Terminus have turned into cannibals. Rick's team is released thanks to a charge led by Carol. Following their migration to Virginia, the group is invited to join Deanna Monroe's fortified community of Alexandria by a stranger named Aaron.
They quickly come to realize that the locals lack the skills necessary to survive. Rick finds Jessie Anderson attractive and learns that her husband is violent. As Morgan arrives unexpectedly, Deanna orders Rick to have the man put to death after he kills her husband.
Season Six (2015-16)
The citizens of Alexandria have faith in Rick's team to keep the city safe. When the Wolves attack Alexandria with a zombie horde, Deanna and the entire Anderson family are among those who are killed. A Hilltop Community is introduced.
If they can help put an end to the threat posed by the extortionist Saviors, led by a man named Negan, a man by the name of Jesus offers them the chance to trade supplies with Hilltop. Despite the fact that Rick's team destroys one Savior outpost, they are later apprehended by Negan and made to submit to him.
Season Seven (2016-17)
Glenn and Abraham are brutally murdered by Negan, who then takes control of Alexandria. Rick initially succumbs to his actions, but Michonne convinces him to fight back. They ask for assistance from a group known as the Scavengers after coming across them. Maggie and Sasha gather on the Hilltop, while Carol and Morgan make friends with the kingdom's ruler, King Ezekiel.
To kill Negan, Rosita and Eugene create a bullet. Negan coercively selects Eugene as a Savior after Lucille, his baseball bat, deflects the bullet. Attacking Alexandria, the Saviors and renegade Scavengers are thwarted by Sasha's sacrifice and the assistance of Kingdom and Hilltop soldiers.
Season Eight (2017-18)
The communities led by Rick, Maggie, and Ezekiel mobilize to fight Negan and the Saviors. Both sides suffer significant losses, and numerous soldiers from the kingdom are killed. Carl is bit by a walker while Alexandria is attacked by a Savior. Carl persuades Rick to end the war and reestablish society before taking his own life.
In a decisive battle, Negan tries to eliminate Rick and his allies, but Eugene thwarts him by tampering with the Saviors' weapons. Negan is then hurt by Rick. Negan is spared and captured against Maggie's wishes, putting an end to the conflict.
Season Nine (2018-19)
In an effort to facilitate trade 18 months after Negan's defeat, Rick suggests building a bridge, but this only fuels more conflict. When Rick destroys the bridge to stop a walker invasion, he appears to be killed.
Six years later, the communities begin to argue over his absence, and a new threat known as the whisperers, who control the walkers, orders the survivors to stay off of their land. If they do, their leader, Alpha, will release a sizable horde of walkers that she has amassed. Alpha disowns her after Lydia decides to join the Kingdom's group instead of her mother's and massacres a large number of locals during a fair.
Season Ten (2019-21)
Alpha starts destroying the communities by committing sabotage and seemingly arbitrary Walker attacks. Negan sneaks into the Whisperers on Carol's orders and kills Alpha. Beta, her right-hand man, takes charge of the Whisperers, but the survivors defeat him and the horde.
To meet a new group of survivors, Eugene takes a group to West Virginia. Meanwhile, Michonne leaves for the north to look for Rick after discovering proof that he lived despite appearing to have died.
Season Eleven (2021-22)
Eugene's team succeeds in persuading the Commonwealth, a sizable, affluent community with a rigid class structure, to provide aid and safety to the Coalition. However, after her corruption is revealed and her son Sebastian is killed, autocratic Governor Pamela Milton turns against the Coalition.
When Pamela tries to sacrifice the lower classes to a horde of more intelligent walker variants, the Coalition leads a revolution against her; as a result, Rosita dies from a bite, Negan is accepted by Maggie as an ally, and Ezekiel takes over as governor. Daryl departs to locate Rick and Michonne after the Coalition has been restored.
