R&B singer and actor Tyrese Gibson was accused by a woman named ChristinaTheBean (@christina_the_bean44) via Instagram of never reaching out to the family of a fan who recently died. The woman claimed his sister Maranda "Mookie" Robinson was the Fast & Furious star's biggest fan.

However, Gibson didn't offer condolences following her demise on November 8, 2024. The reel posted on November 23, 2024, contained details of Maranda's funeral alongside her image with Tyrese. The caption read:

“Disappointed… smh @Tyrese Never even responded or wished condolences to a Loyal Fan’s Death… Rest in Eternal Paradise, Big Sis.”

Meanwhile, the post was accompanied by a lengthy caption where ChristinaTheBean blamed the Nobody Else crooner for not helping them "coordinate a dignified burial for My Big Sis, one of your Most Loyal Fans."

“She followed you, promoted everything you had going on...she went through hell Just to meet you because it was Her Dream to meet her Icon! She had to buried by the county here in Atlanta and she deserved so Much better! You just flat-out ignored the post altogether...they say never meet your heroes and I see why now,” the post read.

Notably, ahead of this accusation, Tyrese Gibson lost his own elder sister, Shonta Gibson, who passed away in October 2023. At the time, the actor-singer shared a long tribute via Instagram.

All you need to know about Tyrese Gibson's sister's passing

On October 5 last year, Tyrese Gibson took to Instagram and mourned the loss of his sister, Shonta.

“I can’t believe I am about to post these 3 letters again… RIP to my beloved Angel of a big sister Shonta Gibson… My heart is so heavy posting this because sadly, I’ve lost so many people over the years in this very short window of time,” he wrote.

The Los Angeles native continued:

“I’m really in a place where I’m just numb and I’ve found that I’ve become even more selfless and more concerned about everyone else and their needs over mine.”

Tyrese Gibson shared his condolences for Shonta's two daughters, Star and Tanisha, adding that they didn't just lose their mother but also their "best friend," "biggest inspiration," and "day-to-day support system." He also urged his followers to pray for his family, especially his only remaining sibling and elder brother Tyrone, as they buried their mother and two sisters.

The 45-year-old also asked for prayers for their father, Tyrese Gibson Sr., and Shonta's husband, Eddie Bell. He concluded by writing how Shonta was "the brightest light in every room she ever stepped into," adding he couldn't have been prouder to be her "baby brother."

In another Instagram post dated October 5, 2023, the Alter Ego singer revealed that he received the tragic news about Shonta's demise around the time when Jermaine Dupri asked him to participate in the So So Def 30th anniversary tribute at the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards. He mentioned being "fully traumatized" by it, yet tucking his emotions in, pushing through them, and being the "leader of the family" until the funeral.

Tyrese Gibson lost his mother, Priscilla Murray, on Valentine's Day, 2022, and his eldest sister Salendra in 2021. In August 2024, the Beautiful Pain singer appeared on the radio show The Breakfast Club, where co-host Charlamagne Tha God asked him about his ways of coping with grief after losing loved ones. Tearing up and refusing tissues, Tyrese responded:

“I'm doing the best I can with every 24 hours I get. This is what growth is. Black men cry… This is some real sh*t out here. I'mma wipe my own tears… When you do things from the heart, it affects hearts.”

In brief, exploring Tyrese Gibson's alleged fan's death controversy

Last month, an alleged "loyal fan" of Tyrese Gibson named Maranda "Mookie" Robinson passed away. However, Maranda's sister Christina took to social media and claimed the actor-singer didn't reach out to them, despite their attempts.

“My Entire family still sings your songs LOUD to this day, since the Coca-Cola commercial when you were just 16 yrs old, I was 14 at the time I'll Never forget it...sometimes y'all celebs are so Proud and so Full of y'all selves that y'all really could caress about the little ppl that have made you famous and Rich...” she wrote.

The woman continued:

“Yet y’all come to IG for clicks and therapy and to get y'all mortgages paid but then when a Loyal and Loving Fan passes away or needs y'all in some way, y'all give the cold shoulder or absolutely no attention at all and it's not right! ...as spiritually convicted as you are, your actions say the opposite...You let Maranda down and that's so Heartbreaking...”

In a separate post dated November 27, 2024, Christina clarified that neither she nor her family blamed Tyrese Gibson or anyone else for Maranda's passing. Instead, she was disgusted to be "blatantly ignored," despite her sister's loyalty towards the star for years.

She wrote:

"Most celebs who Genuinely care about their Fans would at least wish Condolences even if they couldn't provide any financial relief for the Homegoing."

Christina also explained that nobody was "sitting around distraught" but was rather "disappointed" by Tyrese Gibson's lack of response.

“God will show him what to do and what not to do… I highly doubt he hasn't seen this or any of the other posts...it's clear he wrote her off and skipped on with his Life... my Sister is Gone and we can't get her back so Anger and Resentment isn't an option...” she added.

The grieving sister of Gibson's fan also shared how she was done following/ liking celebrity activities and "bringing traffic" to their lives when they couldn't "care less in real life."

In a previous post from November 9, 2024, Christina claimed that her sister Maranda died from a "broken heart," as she was unable to deal with back-to-back losses in the family, such as the death of their uncle and sister. In the post, she also called Maranda his "biggest fan" who "loved" Tyrese Gibson's "music" and everything he "stood for."

So far, Tyrese has not responded to Christina's grievance. In September 2024, he was arrested for failing to pay child support. Meanwhile, he is now facing sanctions after blowing off consecutive court hearings regarding his Home Depot case. Reportedly, Gibson parted ways with his legal team and has decided to represent himself.
