Directed by David Gordon Green, The Exorcist: Believer is an American supernatural horror film that is the sixth installment in The Exorcist franchise. The recently released film serves as a direct sequel to the 1973 released film The Exorcist. The first Exorcist film was released on December 26, 1973, and was a massive success at the box office for its terrifying plot.

Due to the success, the makers decided to turn the film into a trilogy. The second film, Exorcist II: The Heretic, and the third film The Exorcist III was released on June 17, 1977, and August 17, 1990, respectively. Years later, the makers decided to give a theatrical reboot to the Exorcist franchise and the first film of the rebooted trilogy was The Exorcist: Believer.
