Actor Dick Van Dyke took to Facebook on December 11, 2024, to assure fans that he and his wife were evacuated safely amid ranging Malibu wildfires. Van Dyke's post read:

"Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving. We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires"

Bobo is the actor's cat. According to a report by BBC dated December 11, 2024, Van Dyke and Cher were among the thousands of residents who were ordered to evacuate from Malibu after the wildfire that started in Malibu Canyon at 22:50 local time on December 9, 2024.

Witnesses told KABC-TV that the house belonging to Dick Van Dyke's neighbour had caught fire, however, the actor's house was untouched. Additionally, after updating fans about his safety, the Matlock actor posted a video of his cat Bobo mentioning that he hopes the feline is okay.

According to a report by Daily Mail dated August 2023, Dick Van Dyke bought his Malibu home for $750,000 in September 1986 and its value in 2023 amounted to $7.7 million. The actor made multiple renovations to the property comprising three bedrooms and two bathrooms for the 37 years he has owned it.

The report mentioned that Van Dyke travels around the gated community and his property via a vintage caravan and golf buggy. His Malibu home spans 2,226 square feet and was built 50 years ago in 1973.

Van Dyke's Malibu house features a water slide into an adjacent pool, a surfboard, a boogie board, and a bar. It also consists of an outdoor area with a small patio, a golf putting area, an entertainment hut, an art studio, and a dance studio.

Dick Van Dyke was a part of Coldplay's music video for All My Love, which is set to release on December 13, 2024, on the occasion of the actor's 99th birthday. He opened up about his life while shooting the video, which was shot in his Malibu home.

In an interview taken while Coldplay's music video was shot, Dick Van Dyke talked about not being afraid of death. The actor said:

"I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me, I’m not afraid of it. I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright."

Van Dyke also shared that he's one of the lucky people "who got to do for a living" what he would've done anyway. He also said that he considered himself lucky to do what he got to do like playing and acting silly.


A short-film-style music video of All My Love released on December 6, 2024, features footage of the awards and accolades Van Dyke has won throughout his career along with clips of him and his extended family. The music video ends with Chris Martin freestyling a piano tune about Van Dyke's perspective of "old age".
