Mark Wahlberg relocated to The Summit Club on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mark Wahlberg made the announcement that he and his family are leaving Hollywood and relocating to Nevada for a "better life." The actor previously lived with his wife of 14 years, Rhea Durham, and their four children, Ella, 19, Michael, 17, Brendan, 14, and Grace, 13, in a $90 million California mansion.
When Mark put his Beverly Hills home up for sale in April 2022 for $87.5 million, the public learned about his impending move. According to reports, Mark and his family relocated to the Summit Club, a posh neighborhood outside of Las Vegas. The native of Boston, Mark, spent $15.6 million to buy 2.5 acres of land on which to establish his new home. He also spent $14.5 million to buy a 7,327-square-foot house in the same neighborhood.
His Beverly Hills mansion, which had 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms, has been significantly downsized to the house's four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two half-baths. But Mark's relocation to the neighborhood of the Summit Club is not typical for a homesteader. The actor and his family will live in a posh area of Las Vegas that is also home to other extremely wealthy and well-known people.
Why did Mark Wahlberg relocate?
The 51-year-old claimed that his choice to relocate to a new state was motivated by a desire to prioritize his family. "I want to be able to work from home." "I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there," The Talk hosts heard from Mark. "So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us."
Additionally, Mark intends to construct a "state-of-the-art studio" in Nevada and transform it into "Hollywood 2.0" in the hopes that the family will receive a tax credit from the government. "So, we came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s a lot of opportunity here," "I’m really excited about the future," said Mark.
What is The Summit Club?
In a Forbes article from August 2022 about The Summit Club, a listing agent stated to the publication that the neighborhood "is part of Discovery Land Co., which owns some of the most prestigious communities throughout the world."
He further added, "There are views of the Las Vegas Strip and mountains, so it offers the best of both worlds." "The Summit Club is a very tight-knit, exclusive community." "Mark Wahlberg just bought land here and is building a home, and Celine Dion has a home here; it’s really cool to see the big names migrating to Vegas."
What real estate does Mark Wahlberg own?
Mark spent $4.95 million on a Beverly Hills house in 2001. He put this house up for sale for $30 million in 2015. The nine thousand-square-foot main house and a nearby guesthouse together make up this home's seven bedrooms and eleven bathrooms. It is surrounded by lush, landscaped grounds that have a pool with a waterfall, a golf course, a spa, a basketball court, and a personal fitness center. It is situated on almost two acres of land. Wahlberg sold the house for $12.4 million in April 2018.
Mark has lived in his absolutely stunning estate in Beverly Hills' gated Beverly Park neighborhood for a little over ten years. In May 2009, Wahlberg and his wife paid $8.25 million for one of Beverly Park's final undeveloped lots. He commissioned renowned architect Richard Landry to create the 30,000-square-foot main house, which is situated on more than 6 acres. Costs for the construction alone probably exceeded $20 million.
The finished product includes a basketball court, a large pool, a golf course, and many other amenities. In April 2022, Mark put this house on the market for $87.5 million. In November 2022, Mark removed the listing from the MLS after several months of no activity. A month later, he listed the house once more for $79.5 million. Mark and his wife purchased two empty lots in The Summit Club, a gated neighborhood in the suburbs of Las Vegas, for $15.6 million in August 2022.
