Percy Jackson fans would find his audition anecdote shared by Simhadri himself while in conversation with Teen Vogue, quite funny. According to the actor who himself, being a big fan of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series, found himself to be not suitable for the role of Grover Underwood. Simhadri revealed that the casting call had commenced two years ago from the release date, and just because he felt he did not fit the role of the Satyr, he simply submitted a self-tape audition for the role.

To his surprise, out of many auditions, Simhadri’s self-tape audition was chosen in no time by Rick Riordan himself. According to the author’s wife, Becky Riordan, “Rick saw him (Aryan Simhadri) and just said, ‘Okay, that’s it. We’re not looking anymore.’”

Simhadri continued and added that after undergoing three or four rounds of callbacks, he one day received the life changing news that he was being finalized for the role, while he was out with his friend. The actor got candid during the interview and shared that out of happiness and surprise he left his friend alone for 45 minutes while he spoke to his mom on call who equally was surprised. Simhadri said, “I got the call when I was hanging out with my friend, and me and my mom just started freaking out. The actor added, “I felt bad [because] I left [my friend] alone for 45 minutes. She had no idea what was going on. I was like, ‘So… something really cool happened, and you’re just going to have to take my word for it!’”
