Growing up in the suburbs in the middle of the 1970s, among a flurry of flared jeans and feathered hair, is Gru (Steve Carell). Gru, a fan of the Vicious 6, a supervillain superteam, devises a scheme to get bad enough to join them. Fortunately, he has some mayhem creating support from his devoted minions. Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and Otto, a new Minion with braces and a strong desire to please, work together to put their abilities to use as they and Gru construct their first lair, test out their first arsenal, and complete their first tasks.

Gru holds an interview to join the Vicious 6 after they remove their commander, famed fighter Wild Knuckles (Alan Arkin). It doesn't go as planned (to put it mildly), and it only gets worse once Gru outwits them and finds himself unexpectedly facing out against the height of evil. While on the run, Gru will turn to Wild Knuckles for advice and learn that even villains can use a little assistance from their allies.

Is the main franchise ‘Despicable Me’ of Minions?

The main characters of the computer-animated television series Despicable Me are the yellow-colored Minions and Gru, a former super-villain who subsequently becomes a spy, father, and husband. Illumination produces it, while Universal Pictures, its parent company, distributes it.

The first instalment in the series was the 2010 movie of the same name. Two sequels, Despicable Me 2 (2013) and Despicable Me 3, as well as two spin-off prequels, Minions (2015) and Minions: The Rise of Gru, were then released (2022). A theme park attraction, many computer games, a television special, and numerous short films are all part of the series. With over $4.4 billion globally in revenue, it is the highest-grossing animated film franchise and the fifteenth-highest-grossing film franchise overall.

A dark home with a barren lawn stands amid a cheerful suburban neighbourhood bordered by white picket fences and blooming rose bushes. The large secret lair located beneath this house is unknown to the neighbours. We find Gru (Steve Carell) plotting the largest theft in history, accompanied by a tiny army of minions.

He intends to take the moon as Gru enjoys anything that is evil. He defeats everyone who stands in his path with his arsenal of freeze rays, shrink rays, and air and ground combat vehicles. Up until the day he comes into contact with the fierce determination of three little orphan girls who see in him what nobody else has ever noticed: a prospective father. The most evil person in the world has just encountered his biggest obstacle: three little girls called Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Elsie Fisher).

What other sequels and prequels Despicable Me have?

Margo, Edith, and Agnes are three girls that Felonious Gru, a super-villain, adopts from an orphanage in the 2010 film Despicable Me in an attempt to seize a shrink ray from Vector, his adversary, in order to shrink and capture the Moon.

Agent Lucy Wilde from Despicable Me 2 (2013) enlists Felonious Gru as part of her investigation into the theft of the mutagen PX-41 from the Arctic Circle. They discover El Macho during their research, a megalomaniac who intends to rule the globe after fabricating his demise.

In the 2017 film Despicable Me 3, Gru joins forces with his long-lost twin brother Dru to prevent 1980s child star Balthazar Bratt from wrecking Hollywood, Los Angeles, when his show is cancelled. An interview with Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, in September 2017 indicated that a fourth Despicable Me movie is now in production. Universal set the movie's release date for July 3, 2024.

Gru: The Rise of the Minions (2022) Eleven-year-old Felonious Gru strives to become wicked enough to join the Vicious 6 supervillain squad. He takes a priceless artefact and then needs to stop the Vicious 6 with the aid of his Minions, another prequel to the main franchise.
