Florida-based rappers and twins Alex Venegas alias Flyysoulja and Franky Venegas alias Kodiyakred joined the music industry in 2020 and became viral in 2021, due to their song “i am an island boy” in a hot tub. People were fascinated by their tattoos and their funky hairstyles and of course, the song.

Twenty year old twins Alex and Franky Venegas have more than 6.5 million followers on TikTok and nearly 27K subscribers on YouTube. Most of their time is usually spent on replying to thousands of their fans through comments on TikTok. Their social media activity and strange looks are considered the main reason behind their popularity.

While on one hand, some fans do love their music and rapping methods, a lot of people on TikTok have tried to imitate them and their style and have tried to recreate what made the twins social media sensations. Their spike-lock hairstyle and tattoos earned them a different identity, but they shocked their fans in 2022 when they shaved their head off for reasons best known to them.

Did the Island Boys make headlines for murder?

In February, the police raided their home after a childhood friend of theirs was arrested for murder. The Island Boys had nothing to do with it. However, this isn’t the first time that they made headlines. Their former representative accused them of financial strain and that they owed $150,000 to the representative in a Podcast in June.

The controversial brothers in an interview podcast with Adam Grandmaison said that they have spent time in jail/juvenile prison when they were teenagers, for burglaries, robberies and stolen cars. They say that it was during their behind-the-bar time when they were attracted toward the rapping and music industry.

How are the Island Boys still popular?

There is no correct answer to this question. Rapper Kodak Black offered the twins a contract with his record label. Island Boys released a full-fledged music video amassing four million views.

However, their success was short-lived, as they performed in a Miami club on 25th December, they were heckled and booed while performing their song. Such a clip was posted on TikTok and users commented that “certain things are better left on TikTok”. It instantly went viral with nearly 19 million views.

Are the Island Boys in a feud with Jake and Logan Paul?

The feud began with the “Impaulsive” podcast (episode 305) of the YouTuber, Logan Paul. The interview went on for thirty minutes, but then the co-host George Janko suggested that they should invest their earnings, just in case their music career didn’t work out. This triggered the twins, who responded in a rather impolite way, that they don't need financial advice and they probably make more money than George. They left the interview with an exchange of words.

After a few days, Jake Paul fought with professional boxer Tyron Woodley, to which the Island Boys showed their support and even sang “boxer boy” as a version of their song “island boy”. But Keemstar, a podcaster and YouTuber, posted a tweet claiming that the Island Boys were thrown out of the fight for throwing shoes. The twins responded that, “They thought that it came from us, but it actually came from one of the guys we were hanging out with”.

Jake Paul and Majlak discussed the events of the fight in another episode of “Impaulsive”, where Jake was heard in a rather aggressive tone, and spoke about how the boys need to be humbled. Jake said “For you to have the audacity to stand up to George Janko, the nicest guy in the world, and say 'I am thugging,' you're a punk. With the palm trees coming out of their head? Like, shut up." After this, Alex Venegas posted three TikToks explaining the events of the day which received no response from the Paul brothers. Now, there are speculations of a possible fight between them.

Island Boys came into a feud with TikToker Bryce Hall, and after that, Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart were seen making jokes about the Island Boys. There are a lot of controversies revolving around them, one after another.
