Brad Martin passed away on March 11 at the age of 48. The singer and songwriter was known for offering one solo hit through Epic Records in the early 2000s and played in a county duo signed to Curb Records.

John Ramey shared the news on social media on Friday and wrote,

“I can’t believe I’m saying this.. My dear friend and music brother Brad Martin passed away this afternoon.. I am absolutely heartbroken. He’s in hands of the Lord now. Rock on my brother!!! You were a great friend, true talent and it was an honor making music with you.”

Ramey also shared a few pictures of the duo on his Facebook page on Friday. His cause of death has not been revealed until now.

Born on May 3, 1973, Martin made his debut on the American country music scene in 2002 with the release of his debut album, Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel.

He learned to play guitar at an early age and later gained an interest in songwriting. He shifted to Nashville, Tennessee in his early 20s and performed daily in a nightclub. He was then spotted by artist manager Joe Carter and was signed to Sony's Epic Record Label.

The Greenfield, Ohio native was signed to Epic Records in 2000. His debut single, Before I Knew Better, was released in 2002. It was the first single from his debut album, Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel, and also won an award from BMI for being among the fifty most played country songs of 2003.

About.com praised Wings of a Honky-Tonk Angel for its neotraditionalist sound. The album’s second single Rub Me The Right Way, however, failed to receive a positive response.

The non-album single One of Those Days was released in 2003 before Brad’s exit from Epic Records. He stayed away from country music, joined songwriter John Ramey and founded the duo Martin Ramey in 2008. Martin then signed to Curb Records the same year.

Brad Martin’s songs were loved and he accumulated a huge fan base for himself. People expressed their grief on social media when they heard about his demise.

There have been no known survivors of Martin so far and more information about his personal life is yet to be revealed.
