Well-known British-born Canadian actor Garry Chalk has been recently diagnosed with cancer, which is reportedly a Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As per Mayo Clinic, Hodgkin Lymphoma is a form of cancer that affects a person's lymph nodes thereby weakening their immune system. The news comes after Chalk addressed through Facebook earlier this month that he has been dealing with some health problems.
Chalk is mostly known for giving his voice to Optimus Prime in the English dubbed versions of various installments of the Transformers anime franchise alongside films like Warriors of Virtue and The Fearless Four.
The news of Garry Chalk's cancer diagnosis was revealed through a video posted on a YouTube channel, Primal Parodies on December 21. The details of his diagnosis were added in the description of a video titled, Jingle Wars, which is a parody song performed by Chalk, who also wrote the lyrics along with Candice N. Santora.
The description stated that Chalk was feeling unwell when he was busy with his recording work, adding that he decided to continue doing a parody despite being advised against it.
"He is larger than life. Garry went all in, giving his absolute best (just as he does at conventions even when he's too tired or not feeling enough), and after a few takes with some lyric changes, he got through it, and I just sat there in amazement and full of the deepest gratitude."
The description featured a request for his fans, telling them to avoid asking Chalk for an autograph or anything else considering the situation that he was going through. The description then revealed Garry's real problem as it read:
"His official diagnosis is Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It's very treatable and he is under the best care with the best team and his amazing wife right beside him. If you can, please spare a moment this holiday season to send him and his family positive vibes, prayers, healing, strength, light and love. The journey so far has been very emotional, but I know he will beat this."
