The filmmaker was casting for his short film Muertas which was about the ongoing murders of women and young girls in Juarez, Mexico. The pair fell in love in no time and after five years together, the two got engaged in June 2010 and got married one year later in 2011. The couple tied the knot at Chappaqua, New York.
