Tate was detained in Romania on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group in December 2022. Authorities confirmed the charges. Both he and his brother Tristan have been under criminal investigation since April 2022. Their lawyer confirmed they had been detained, but they declined to comment.

A spokesperson for Tate informed the Daily Mirror that he was unable to provide any details regarding the reports. They mentioned that Andrew and Tristan Tate have the utmost respect for the Romanian authorities and will always assist and help in any way they can. The investigators said that they have found six women who were allegedly sexually abused by the organized criminal group.

According to prosecutors, the four suspects created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content for a fee.

As of June 4th, 2023, Andrew and Tristian Tate, alongside the two others accused, were released from prison after a successful appeal and placed under house arrest by the judge. The original sentence was to run until April 29th, 2023, however, it was later extended for an additional 30 days before being extended again for 30 more days on May 19th, 2023.

But Tate has now been charged in Romania for rape, human trafficking, and leading an organized crime group involved in the sexual exploitation of women. Alongside him, his brother Tristan and two associates have also been charged, although they have all vehemently denied the allegations.
