Was Transformers: Rise of the Beasts the last film in the Transformer franchise?

No, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is not the last Transformers film. Right after the release of the seventh installment, the makers were reportedly in talks for the sequel of the film with Steven Caple Jr. heading it. The director revealed details about the plan in an episode of the Crew Call podcast. Caple Jr. said, "I am not officially signed on for the next movie.” He also added, "We're in the works now, but I'm not officially signed on. I'm in talks. I set up a lot of stuff in this film... anytime [the studio, producers, and I] talk about the future, you know, there's a lot of 'we,' the word, 'we,' so it kind of naturally fell that way. But everything else planted here was for the future, so, yeah, we're in talks."

During the same podcast, Steven Caple Jr. also explained that he plans to explore more regarding the ending of Transformers: Rise of the Beast and its sequel and has had several other Easter eggs placed into the film so they can be used for future films and spin-offs. Caple Jr. said, "I would love to. I have some ideas on how to branch out that part of the IP... If I can do this crossover that I plan on doing, I think there's a way to still feed the fans what we want in Transformers films, but also do something cool with another legendary IP, so to speak... I would be excited and thrilled."

The next Transformers film is titled Transformers: One and it is slated to release on September 13, 2024. Rather than Steven Caple Jr. the upcoming film will be directed by Josh Cooley. Unlike the previous films, Transformers: One will revolve around the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

For the unversed, American director Josh Cooley is known for directing films such as Disney’s Toy Story 4 and Riley’s First Date.
