Born to Orion and Walburga Black, Regulus Arcturus Black was a pure-blood wizard from England and the younger brother of Sirius Black, also known as R.A.B. He belonged to the prestigious House of Black, an ancient wizarding family with roots dating back to the Middle Ages.
Regulus had joined the ranks of the Death Eaters during the final war against Voldemort. Although he had already passed away before the main events of the Harry Potter series, his character played a crucial role.
What happened to Regulus Black in Harry Potter?
In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry discovers that the Horcrux retrieved by himself and Dumbledore from the seaside cave was a counterfeit, as the original had already been taken by someone named R.A.B. The identity of R.A.B. remained a mystery at the beginning of Deathly Hallows, but as the story progresses, it is revealed that R.A.B. was, in fact, Regulus.
Due to Voldemort's cruel treatment of the Black family's house elf, Kreacher, Regulus switched sides and went against him.
Who is Regulus’ brother?
Sirius Black was the elder brother of Regulus Black and also a pure-blood wizard from the Black family. Unlike his family, Sirius rejected the notion of pure-blood supremacy and was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, a secret society dedicated to fighting against Voldemort and his Death Eaters.
Sirius was also a close friend of Harry Potter's father, James, and became Harry's godfather after his parents were killed by Voldemort. Despite being wrongly accused of betraying the Potters and sent to Azkaban, Sirius remained fiercely loyal to his friends and eventually cleared his name. His tragic death in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries was a major loss for the Order and for Harry, who had grown to see him as a father figure.

In pursuit of justice for their deaths, Regulus embarked on a dangerous mission against Voldemort, fully aware of the risks involved and that he might not survive.
