Archangel Gabriel is the Trickster in the horror television series, Supernatural.
Supernatural, an American dark fantasy drama television series, originated from the creative mind of Eric Kripke. Making its debut on September 13, 2005, on The WB, the show eventually found its place in the programming lineup of its successor network, The CW. Warner Bros. Television, in collaboration with Wonderland Sound and Vision, served as the production team for the series.
Joining forces with Kripke, the esteemed executive producers included McG, Robert Singer, Phil Sgriccia, Sera Gamble, Jeremy Carver, John Shiban, Ben Edlund, and Adam Glass. Tragically, the series suffered the loss of former executive producer and director Kim Manners, who succumbed to lung cancer during the production of its fourth season.
The filming of the series took place in Vancouver, British Columbia, and its environs. The development process spanned close to a decade, during which the creator, Kripke, dedicated numerous years to pitching the concept, albeit without success initially. The pilot episode garnered an estimated viewership of 5.69 million, with the ratings of the first four episodes proving compelling enough for The WB to grant the series a full season order.
When did Trickster first appear in Supernatural?
Trickster first appeared in season 2, episode 15, Tall Tales of Supernatural. Sam and Dean undertake an investigation into a series of peculiar fatalities based on popular urban legends, such as a ghostly tale on a university campus, an alleged alien abduction, and even an alligator lurking within the sewer system.
Despite their diligent efforts, they are unable to determine the identity of the responsible party. Unbeknownst to them, their path crosses with Gabriel, who cunningly disguises himself as the nighttime janitor at the college during the course of their inquiry. It is only when Bobby proposes the notion that they may be dealing with a Trickster, given the abundance of pranks played on the brothers, that they begin to piece together the puzzle.
However, their confrontation with the Trickster takes an unexpected turn as he awaits them in the auditorium, presenting them with an offer for a peaceful resolution on the condition that they allow him to depart and wreak havoc upon another town. Naturally, the steadfast Winchesters adamantly refuse the proposition and launch an assault against him.
With Bobby's assistance, they assemble wooden stakes drenched in blood, preparing themselves for the arduous battle. Nevertheless, the Trickster effortlessly repels their efforts by summoning entities, including scantily clad women and a deranged individual brandishing a chainsaw, to engage in combat on his behalf. Meanwhile, he leisurely indulges in chocolates, relishing the spectacle unfolding before him. However, Dean manages to successfully impale him with a blood-soaked stake, causing his minions to dissipate.
Although the hunters believe they have achieved victory, their triumph is short-lived as it becomes apparent that the Trickster has devised a means of survival by creating a duplicate of himself to endure the encounter.
