Aldrich Killian, playing the Mandarin, is the villain in Iron Man 3.
Iron Man 3 is a 2013 American superhero film and the final film in the series. Based on the Marvel superhero of the same name, the film was directed by Shane Black. The story of the third film follows the events of the Marvel film Avengers. Tony Stark aka Iron Man is shown to suffer from anxiety after what happened in The Avengers, and to cope with it, he goes on to make multiple Iron Man suits.
This leads to a strained relationship between his girlfriend/long-time work associate Pepper Potts. However, while he deals with this, Tony also has to deal with two new villains, who aim to ruin his life completely as an act of revenge. The film was released back on May 3, 2013, and was a massive hit, just like the first two films.
Who is Aldrich Killian?
Aldrich Killian was the villain of Iron Man 3. In the film, the character is the creator of the Extremis virus and the founder and owner of the science and development organization Advanced Idea Mechanics. Killian was first introduced at the beginning of the film as a person with a debilitating disability who wanted to have a word with Tony Stark regarding his work. However, he is left betrayed after Stark asks him to wait on the rooftop to have a chat, but then never shows up.
This left Aldrich Killian seeking vengeance against the superhero. To take his revenge, the character adopts the mantle of the Mandarin. Killian develops Extremis to cure his disability and to have regenerative healing powers. To add to this, the prolonged exposure to Extremis granted Killian the ability to breathe fire and produce extreme heat, turning him into a superhuman. He uses these superhuman qualities to take revenge against Iron Man in the film.
American actor Guy Pearce plays the role of the villain in the film. Other than Iron Man, Pearce is known for working in movies such as L.A. Confidential, First Snow, Bedtime Stories, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Memento, and many more.
