Rachael Ray's fans raised concern about her health after she shared a few clips from her shows through Instagram in September this year. Although the celebrity chef spoke slowly, her fans noted that she was slurring her words in the video.
Rachael has been married to John Cusimano since 2005 and the former addressed her relationship and recent health issues as she appeared on her podcast I'll Sleep When I'm Dead on October 22, 2024. The episode also featured actress Jenny Mollen.
During the podcast, Ray stated that she likes to do physical labor and work in the kitchen since she is a homemaker. Rachael Ray added that she likes chores and continued:
"I like what people consider physical work. I like making dinner, planning dinners, making lists. I love physical labor, helping carry in the wood. I've had a couple of bad falls in the last couple of weeks, so I haven't been doing that in awhile, but I love carrying wood."
Rachael Ray's September Instagram video showed her preparing a dish called Osso buco in memory of the late singer Tony Bennett. She also recalled the time Bennett slipped and fell on the floor of her house, hitting his head.
Another video posted by Ray was from an episode of Meals in Minutes and it featured some recipes that can be used for "brunch, lunch, or dinner." This particular clip also raised concern among her fans as a few of them spotted that her face was bloated.
While different reactions continued towards the videos, Rachael's representatives responded by saying that they didn't want to issue a comment.
Rachael Ray and her husband were romantically linked for around six years before they got married
The Glens Falls, New York native has been with John Cusimano for more than 10 years. Notably, the pair exchanged vows after being together for six years, and back in 2020, the duo appeared on Rachael's talk show, opening up a little bit more about their love story.
Rachael Ray and John Cusimano first met at a mutual friend's birthday party in 2001 and the latter recalled the same by saying:
"This person was a tall person, and she invited all of her ex-boyfriends and people she knew – and they were all tall. And as you can see, we're not all that tall. So I like to say we saw each other among a sea of knees."
Rachael Ray revealed that she and Cusimano eventually started speaking to each other but she never expected that they would marry in the future. Rachael once told on her show in 2018 that John makes special arrangements on the occasion of Valentine's Day. She addressed the same by saying:
"He makes me a playlist every year and I make him his favorite meal which is pasta carbonara. And I give him a bouquet of salamis from around the world because he just loves pork – what are you gonna do?"
According to Country Living, John Cusimano has been a member of a band called The Cringe. While speaking on her show, Rachael Ray said that John is an expert in playing 57 musical instruments and had also attended law school.
John was born in Long Island, New York City, and obtained his BA in Law from the State University. He then enrolled at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.
Cusimano has five albums in his credits such as Hiding in Plain Sight and Play Thing. He also produced a show, Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai, and appeared in a film titled World War Mud.
Rachael Ray opens up on how she has been spending time with her husband
While the 56-year-old addressed her health issues in the latest episode of I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, she also shared details on how she and John Cusimano stay at home. Ray said that she and Cusimano argue a lot since she considers it healthy.
Rachael Ray mentioned that it is not easy for "hot-tempered" individuals to stay calm and added:
"John and I don't calm it down ever. We have huge screaming matches all the time, but I think that's healthy. I really do. And I don't trust people that are too quiet."
She explained by saying that she cannot stay quiet and wants people to tell her what they think about her. Ray stated that she and Cusimano never apologize to each other and John usually kisses her on the head, which resolves their issues.
