On October 1, Tony Buzbee spoke in a press conference, where he mentioned that thousands of people reached out to him claiming they were s*xually assaulted by Diddy or his associates.
As of now, he was representing 120 of them. He also shared that out of these several alleged victims, 25 have claimed that they were underage when they were reportedly abused by Combs.
"This group of brave individuals includes both men and women; many were minors when the abuse occurred. Some of these brave individuals reported the incidents to the police, others did not," Buzbee explained.
The Houston lawyer further claimed that many of these cases were similar in nature where the alleged victims were offered a drink or more laced with a tranquilizing drug called xylazine, following which they were reportedly violated. Notably, this narcotic is not approved by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control to be used on humans.
Previously, Tony Buzbee has represented the likes of former Texas Governor Rick Perry and Attorney General Ken Paxton among others.
In brief, looking at Tony Buzbee’s career
Tony Buzbee is a litigator, politician, TV show host, Texas Aggie, and Marine Corps veteran. He served on the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents from 2013 to 2019 and as the chairman of the Galveston County Democratic Party. He also unsuccessfully ran for the 2019 Houston mayorship and 2002 state representative.
He has provided legal counsel in many high-profile cases. For instance, he was former Texas Governor Rick Perry’s lead defense attorney when the latter was indicted by a Travis County grand jury in 2014 on the charges of abuse of power and public corruption. However, the indictment was later dismissed and Perry pled not guilty in 2016.
Buzbee also represented U.S. Attorney General Ken Paxton during his two-week trial in September 2023 on 16 impeachment counts of bribery and misuse of office. However, when the case moved to the Texas State Senate, Paxton was acquitted.
Tony also represented a group of 22 female victims who filed s*xual misconduct lawsuits against Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, claiming exploitation between early 2020 and March 2021 during his time in Houston. The case ended in a settlement outside court.
Tony Buzbee also represented four people when they sued singer Chris Brown and his crew for $50 million for alleged severe assault after a concert at Dickies Arena, Texas, on July 19 this year. The case is currently ongoing.
In Texas, Buzbee is best known for winning $189 million in a settlement against Texas Windstorm Insurance Associate in the aftermath of 2008 Hurricane Ike’s destruction, and for fighting against other big corporations like BP over the 2009 Deepwater Horizon crisis and ERCOT and Entergy for the negligent death of an 11-year-old during a winter storm.
Exploring more about Tony Buzbee leading a series of lawsuits against Diddy
On Tuesday, Tony Buzbee announced that he would be representing more than 100 people who have accused Diddy and his peers of s*xual misconduct in a series of lawsuits. He told reporters that more alleged victims may join in the coming month, and he and his team are currently vetting those cases, before filing multiple suits together.
"We will expose the enablers who enabled this conduct behind closed doors. We will pursue this matter no matter who the evidence implicates. It's a long list already, but because of the nature of this case, we are going to make sure, d*mn sure we are right before we do that. These names will shock you," Tony Buzbee noted.
According to the litigator, the accusations would range from violent s*xual assault or r*pe, to s*xual abuse of a minor, and wrongful imprisonment, among others. He further claimed that the misconduct often occurred in private homes, hotels, or events, including the infamous “freak off” parties. Besides, in the majority of the cases Buzbee would be spearheading, the drug xylazine is at the center.
“Once that drink takes effect, the perpetrators perform all kinds of s*xual acts on the victims, many times passing him or her around as other people watch and enjoy the show and then leave the victim ashamed, confused, injured and wondering what happened,” Buzbee claimed.
Tony further urged other potential victims of Diddy to come forward with their experiences, either to law enforcement or his law firm, while adding that a few of his clients have already talked to federal authorities investigating Diddy’s ongoing case.
During this week’s press conference, Tony Buzbee shared glimpses of his cases. For instance, he mentioned that one of the victims was allegedly a 9-year-old boy who reportedly auditioned for Combs as part of a record deal in New York City. However, he was allegedly s*xually abused by the rapper, after the latter seemingly gave his word to the child and his parents about their contract.
Buzbee also shared another case where a 15-year-old girl was reportedly taken to NYC on a private plane to attend a party but was instead allegedly drugged and r*ped by multiple people, with Diddy as one of the spectators.
The attorney also shared an account of an underaged boy who was made false promises by Diddy that he would make him a “star” but was later forced to allegedly perform oral s*x on the Bad Boy Records founder in private, away from his parents.
“I expect that through this process many powerful people will be exposed. The day will come when we will name names other than Sean Combs, and there’s a lot of names,” Tony Buzbee claimed.
He was accompanied by co-counsel Andrew Van Arsdale of AVA Law Group and other s*xual abuse victim advocates during the press meet.
