Ed Sheeran's lookalike Ty Jones has been recently banned from TikTok for having a lot of resemblance to the singer. The ban was put on Jones despite the fact that he has frequently clarified to his followers that he is not Sheeran and he cannot sing.
Jones disclosed the news on his Instagram page where he posted a screenshot of his TikTok profile which states that his account has been banned. He wrote in the post that his account was banned for impersonating although his name was individual. He added:
"My videos consisted of my individual life as a celebrity lookalike etc Tiktok just banned me, I appealed and within minutes got response that it was denied, I genuinely feel discriminated sheerly for the was I look."
Jones mentioned that he has already been in touch with Ed Sheeran's team and they told him that they were not involved in the action taken against his TikTok page. He also requested anyone to approach him if they had any idea of getting the account back. The latest updates reveal that Ty's account has been reinstated.
Ty Jones has a heavy resemblance to Ed Sheeran
Ty Jones has gained recognition for his content on TikTok and he has been active on the social media platform for a long time with around 109,000 followers. He is also active on Instagram with 1,227 followers and a few of his posts also feature him playing guitar. Jones has described himself as a musician on his Instagram page and the bio on the page states:
"Hi, I'm an Ed Sheeran Lookalike with a lot of experience in this area along with Acting, Viral Videos, Radio Interviews and much more! DM for Bookings."
He looks very similar to Ed Sheeran and he has also shared some singing videos on TikTok. Ty is currently married to Amanda Baron and the duo are also the parents of a daughter named Cherry Rose. Ty and Amanda first met at an Ed Sheeran gig.
Ty Jones was told that he violated the guidelines of TikTok
The Sun reported that Ty Jones' TikTok profile was banned and when he appealed to remove the ban, the platform informed him that he did not follow their rules and the account cannot be restored. He added:
"It's quite obvious I'm a lookalike. I actually can't sing. People always comment on my videos, saying, 'Oh my God, it's Ed Sheeran.'"
He mentioned that he has repeated multiple times that he is not Sheeran and he feels discriminated against because he cannot change his looks. He continued by saying that he has the right to make TikTok videos despite that he looks like Sheeran and it is his full-time job.
In an interview with LADbible, Jones stated that people have cried multiple times whenever they met him thinking that he is Ed Sheeran. He added that he feels guilty when he reveals his real identity to them.
Although his account has been reinstated, TikTok has not commented on Jones' ban so far.
