On October 22, 2023, mobster Vincent Asaro passed away at the age of 86. While Vincent's cause of dеath remains unknown, his funеral is schеdulеd to bе hеld on October 27, 2023, at thе St Hеlеn's Catholic Church in New York.

Hе was arrеstеd in 2014 for rеportеdly being involvеd in thе 1978 Lufthansa hеist and was sеntеncеd to еight yеars in prison in 2012 for bеing linkеd to a road accidеnt that happеnеd thе samе yеar.

The New York Post states that in 2012, Vincеnt Asaro ordered one of his associates to set fire to a man's car. The associate was helped by two men named John Gotti and Matthew "Fat Matt" Rullan.

Other than that, Asarao was in the headlines over the years for being involved in a robbery that happened at a Lufthansa Airlines cargo terminal at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York in 1978. The Messengers News revealed that a group of robbers stole around $5.8 million worth of cash and gems in the heist.

The New York Post says that Vincent Asaro became an important part of the Bonnano crime family during the 70s. Britannica states that the Bonnano was one of the infamous Five Families in New York City that included Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese, and Colombo organizations.

Asaro's father and grandfather were also members of the mafia which left an influence on him. Yahoo states that Asaro was involved in a lot of criminal activities since the 50s.

Vincent Asaro was reportedly involved in the Lufthansa heist that happened at the John F. Kennedy International Airport. A group of 12 people committed the crime, where they stole cash and gems worth $5.8 million, as revealed by The Mirror.

Reuters stated that Asaro was arrested in 2014 for his association with the Lufthansa heist. The court documents stated that Asaro reportedly participated in a lot of meetings that were organized by James "Jimmy the Gent" Burke, who planned the robbery.

He was arrested after federal authorities had four witnesses from organized crime families who proved his links to the robbery.

The prosecutors also said that Asaro was not wealthy as of 2011 and reportedly claimed not getting his share of the robbery. The other people accused include Jerome Asaro, Jack Bonventre, Thomas DiFiore, and John Ragano.

Vincent was also charged with being involved in the p*rnography business and robbing gold salts worth $12.5 million from Federal Express.

Vincent Asaro was able to walk free in 2015 after all the charges against him were dropped, as per The New York Times. The charges also included the murder of a mob associate, Paul Katz, who was reportedly an informer for the police.

The Lufthansa heist was also featured in a few films including The 10 Million Dollar Getaway, The Big Heist, and Goodfellas.
