A brand new episode of Jeopardy! aired on KABC-TV on Monday, May 8. The episode featured three-day winner Hannah Wilson competing against two new players to defend her title. Wilson is a data scientist from Chicago, Illinois, and has earned $90,601 from her previous games.

The new players were Juveria Zaheer, a psychiatrist from Whitby, Ontario, Canada, and Sami Casanova, an actuary from New York. The competitors were supposed to answer several knowledge-based questions to earn scores and money.


Today’s Jeopardy! winner is Hannah Wilson

Hannah led the game in all three rounds and was the only player to earn more than $10,000 in the final round. She easily defeated her competitors with a huge margin.

The categories under the first round of Jeopardy! were Scandal!, Pop Music-Podge, Gone Fishin’, Yeet!, Children’s Lit and Consonant Craving.

Hannah got off to a great start but slowed down by the end of the round. Sami found the daily double but played it safe by betting very little amount of money. In total, Hannah gave 12 correct responses, while Sami gave 6 correct answers, with no wrong answers. Juveria answered 8 questions correctly, while 3 answers were wrong.

The score after the round was Hannah at $7200, Sami at $3600 and Juveria at $2,800.

The categories under the Double Jeopardy! round were “B” Cool, The South Pacific, The Quotable Alex, Futility, American Woman and What Kind Of Tv Place You Live In?

Hannah got the first daily double in the round and was once again in the lead from the beginning. Juveria found the last daily double on clue 20 and doubled up her score before the final round. In total, Hannah answered 22 questions correctly and Sami gave 9 correct responses, with 1 incorrect response each. Juveria gave 20 correct answers and 5 incorrect responses.

The score after the second round was Hannah at $21,200, Juveria at $17,000 and Sami at $4,000.

Hannah was the only player who got the final question correct and increased her total earnings by $34,200.

Hence, Hannah Wilson won Jeopardy! today.

Final Jeopardy! results today

The final question of Game 171 for Jeopardy season 39 was under the category Numerical Book Titles and the clue read:

"This 2007 bestselling novel takes its title from a line in the poem “Kabul” by the 17th century Persian poet Saib."

The correct answer was What is A Thousand Splendid Suns? Only Hannah was able to give the correct response and earned $13,000 in the round. Sami and Juveria lost $3,998 and $17,000, respectively, due to their wrong answers.

The final results of the May 8 episode of Jeopardy! were:

Hannah Wilson: $21,200 + $13,000 = $34,200 (What is A Thousand Splendid Suns?) (4-day total: $124,801)

Sami Casanova: $4,000 – $3,998 = $2 (What is this was fun)

Juveria Zaheer: $17,000 – $17,000 = $0 (What is Seventh heaven?)

After winning 4 games, Hannah is just 1 episode away from reaching the tournament of champions, which will be released post this season. Currently, she has $124,801 in her winnings account.


Wilson will play against Raquel Matta and Joe Forti in the next episode of Jeopardy!, which airs on Tuesday, May 9 on KABC-TV at 7 pm ET.
