Luigi Mangione, the accused in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson will be held at the same jail where Sean “Diddy” Combs has been detained since his September arrest. It is the Metropolitan Detention Center, a federal jail in New York City.

Besides, the now-disgraced hip-hop mogul and Mangione are being represented by attorneys who are married to each other. While Diddy’s defense lawyer is Marc Agnifilo, Luigi will be represented by Marc’s wife, Karen Friedman Agnifilo. She is a former prosecutor for the Manhattan DA’s S*x Crime Unit.

In the wake of these revelations, the internet is having diverse reactions. For instance, X user Airen aka @Aaronfrommars commented under influencer @Vision4theBlind’s post by asking:

“Who wrote the script?”

Many people joined the conversation and shared similar reactions on the platform.

“So let me get this straight Luigi Mangione is now allegedly in the same prison as Diddy and not only that but their lawyers are also married to each other. Call me crazy but I don't believe either one of them is in prison. This is nothing but a show,” a person wrote.
“100 Theater!” one person wrote.
“Something just don’t sit right. I can’t help but to think they have a world stage set in place to occupy our minds to the max while they get us to give up everything,” wrote another.

Others continued to weigh in.

“SMELLS!” a netizen wrote.
“‘Inconceivable,’” another netizen wrote.
“Less people needed to keep secrets...” a user wrote.
“They all going underground to their bunkers for the great reset,” wrote another.

It is noteworthy that apart from being held in the same federal jail and having lawyers who are husband and wife, Diddy and Luigi Mangione have no other connection between their cases.

Exploring the charges against Luigi Mangione and Diddy

Luigi Mangione was arrested as a “strong person of interest” in Brian Thompson’s killing from a McDonald’s outlet in Altoona, Pennsylvania on December 9, after a five-day manhunt following the incident.

Initially, he was charged with five felony counts in Pennsylvania and was being held at the State Correctional Institution, Huntington.

After being denied bail and fighting his extradition to New York via his Pennsylvania lawyer Thomas Dickey, the 26-year-old finally waived it on December 19.

A grand jury indicted Luigi on December 17 following which he was arraigned at a federal court in Manhattan on Thursday on four new federal charges including murder, using a weapon with a silencer, and two counts of stalking.

These were added to the already-existing 11 state charges filed by the Manhattan district attorney including terrorism, first and second-degree murder, weapons possession, and forgery, among others.

If convicted, Luigi Mangione might face the death penalty in New York. A spokesperson from Karen Friedman Agnifilo’s firm Agnifilo Intrater LLP told Us Weekly on December 16 that she was retained to represent the Ivy League alum in New York.

As per CNN, Karen responded to the Luigi Mangione case by stating:

“The federal government's reported decision to pile on top of an already overcharged first-degree murder and state terror case is highly unusual and raises serious constitutional and statutory double jeopardy concerns. We are ready to fight these charges in whatever court they are brought.”

Meanwhile, Sean Combs faced a s*xual assault/ trafficking civil suit on November 2023 from his ex-girlfriend Cassie and has continued to face multiple other lawsuits over the year.

In March 2024, his houses in Miami and Los Angeles were raided as part of a Homeland Security Investigation into the trafficking allegations against him.

Finally, on September 16, he was arrested from New York City and indicted by a grand jury on multiple federal felony charges including racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution, among others.

He has been denied bail multiple times despite pleading not guilty to all charges. He is scheduled for trial on May 5, 2025, while being housed in the Special Housing Unit at the MDC.

If convicted, he’s looking up to 15 years to life in federal prison. His attorney Marc Agnifilo has insisted on his innocence and told CNN that his client was going to trial and “win.”
